Aria now knows that there's no plugging the hole in the prison. But that doesn't mean she's without a plan.

Aria is finally feeling like she's figuring things out. At least, she's not fumbling her way through adventure as much anymore. At least there's that.

But there is no way to reseal the prison. Too many ur'gel have escaped, making the breach even bigger. And the only thing they can do is to wait for Dag'draath to break out as well.

They have no weapons against Dag'draath, though. He's a god of evil. In the fight before, they had Onen, the man of Light and everything good. There's no way to resurrect him.

But she does have someone from the past who might have a solution their war that he doesn't even realize. In order for him to find that answer, though, Beru's soul needs to heal. He'd been tortured for two-hundred and fifty years. So, Aria's next mission is simple.

Heal Beru. Then, figure out what the world needs to do in order to stand up against the greatest enemy they've ever faced.

This is book three in the Legends of the Fallen series and follows Aria, Beru and their small group of loyal friends as they try to figure out how to close the leak that Aria left in the prison realm. The gap is letting lots of the prisoners cross over to their realm and too many Ur’gel have now escaped. They are gaining ground and destroying everything in their path. If more escape, then Dag’draath may be able to escape and then they have no chance against him. Only the sacrifice of Onen, managed to get Dag’draath locked up and contained in the prison.

Aria finds out from another Dreamwalker, that the prison cannot be resealed without the ‘key’. Beru is the only clue to this and he can’t remember his past. Aria has to use her healing skills and her connection with him, to heal him and make him remember his past, however painful that will be. His soul needs to heal as well as his mind. He was held in the prison and tortured within the prison for over two hundred and fifty years. It will take a long time and a lot of effort to help him.

The spider widow and her multitude of spiders continue to cause problems, as do the Ur’gel, killing all as they go and in some small towns, taking all the children captive and asking for sacrifices. Aria’s presence as they travel across the country, make a target out of all she passes. The group end up in some strange places and even experience giant ships that float in the air, and are transported to a secret world, where their magic doesn’t work. The widow spider and her league of spiders end up in Aria’s village and hold those she knows in a giant web. One of only loads of confrontations that Aria and her group have to contend with.

Beru tells them they must go south and a hidden stone from the prison is a key item they will need to hopefully defeat Dag’draath. There is lots of action in this book, but also lots of trekking across the country. At some parts, the group are fed up and bored with what they are doing, when it seems like they constantly going where Aria says and some of them don’t agree and want to do something to help those being attacked. Following a feeling is not what they thought they should be doing. No matter where they are heading, you can guarantee that there will be danger ahead and whether they will all survive is for the reader to discover. The enemies they are facing seem to be growing in strength and need to be overcome.

The story needs to continue to see if Aria, Beru and the others can ever defeat Dag’draath and if someone will need to be sacrificed for that to happen. There are a lot more books to come in this series and each, I’m sure, will add more to the story and keep readers interested and wanting to read more. A poor healer, who wanted to be a warrior, but finds out she is a Dreamwalker, is certainly getting lots of action in fighting now and will no doubt have more danger to face. How much Aria can trust another Dreamwalker, who is far more powerful than her, will have to be seen in the next book.

Another great story in this series and I can’t wait to see what’s next. Parts of the story are slow, but that goes with any long journey, such as Lord of the Rings, part 2. Other parts are faster paced and full of action and battles against their enemies. A great adventure storyline, which is growing bigger and better as the series continues. This book is under two hundred pages and so can easily be read in one go, which leaves you able to follow the story easily. Each book in the series is being released fairly closely together, so there will be no problem tracking the storyline, which can sometimes be a problem. I received an ARC copy of this book from the author and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

Aria knows that there is no way they are going to cause the rip in the prison and already many towns have been overrun by the Ur'gel now all they were waiting for is for Dag'Draath to escape and the world as they knew it would be doomed. Also the widow and her spiders were invading and killing many innocent people including those from Aria's own village. The only one who could stop this was Beru, he was the key to close the rip however he was too damaged, his soul was damaged and Aria though a healer could not cure his soul! The team started getting very antsy and many confrontations arose between them, as they challenged Beru who could not remember much but kept insisting they travel South, and the prison was in the South! So what was calling to Beru? was it the stone he had hidden or was it Dag'Draath? He remembered being sent for this very powerful stone by Onen Suun before the great battle but he had then been taken captive and Suun had created the prison without the force of the stone and Beru believed that it was this that was calling to him and he said Suun had said that this stone could save the world!! A book full of death and loss and so much heartbreak but also one of courage, perseverance and so much hope! Can Beru and Aria close the rip and keep Dag'Draath imprisoned and can Aria trust Rina to keep the stone safe?

Book three in the Legends of the Fallen series brings many challenges for Aria and her band of fellow travelers. They traveled back to her village and discovered that Widow and her fellow spiders had taken over the village. They had built a dome of webs over the whole village. Aria dreamwalks in a unique way to get to Widow and find out what is up with her. Tragedy strikes several times throughout this book. A few friends are lost but Aria and Beru continue to trek forward. Several lulls in the story leads the reader to wonder what is going to happen next. But the story quickly picks up again and they’re off following another lead. They need to find help to heal and rescue their friends, then find the secret to fixing the tear in the prison so Dag’draath cannot escape. Will they find it in the next book? Will the creepy Widow make another appearance again? Can’t wait to find out.

J.A. Culican and H.M. Golden have returned to the fantastic lands of their Legends of the Fallen series with Soul Healer (Book 3). As the blurb says, Aria's next mission is simple: “simply” heal Beru. Then, oh yeah, there’s that whole next step of figuring out how to fight Dag'draath, “merely” a god of evil and the greatest enemy ever faced. Maybe a bit tricky for Aria, et. al., but following along? That’s pure fun. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

The story continues, but we are now getting conflict in Aria’s group trying to close the prison. Others are escaping from the rip and they still need to close it before Dag'draath gets out. Aria knows now where the key is but she can’t tell. Beru is still not awake and they need him. Everyone is stressed and they are having fights among themselves. Will Beru wake up? If he does where will his mind be? Can she keep the secret of the key to close the prison? Can they save others or will their enemies keep killing them? What are the true feelings between Beru and Aria? Can she keep her friends or will they leave her? I received a free copy for my honest review.

Sorry, I am not one to give spoilers. I will simply say that this is one series that you don’t want to miss. Fantasy of the highest caliber. In my opinion, anything written or co-written by J.A.Culican is going to be great. 3rd in the series and gets better with each one.
