About the author

J. Haney was born and raised in Kentucky and still resides there with her family. Her work tends to lean toward real life, drawing her readers into a world they can get lost inside. Probably the biggest book whore, she knows. She loves books of all genres except horror… The big Chicken! Getting excited when introduced to a new author, she has been likened to a kid in a candy shop.
In 2016, she partnered with S.I. Hayes, and they are now colloquially known as The Deviant Darlings, who have been on the journey of a thousand tales. Their joy for writing and helping authors led to the launch of Haney Hayes Promotions (HHP), an Author Services Company that helps authors from the ground up. This is a well written book with strong , well developed characters and an entertaining story line. The authors do a great job building the story and pulling you in , keeping you glued to the pages from start to finish. The chemistry is strong and I enjoyed reading their story.

My Rationalization...

What will happen when Cassiopeia Eleanor leaves Mississippi and ventures to California for a musical talent show? What will happen when J.T. chase who had been bound for the Seminary but ends up 'working in a bar and club scene where he loved sharing his music' and meets Cassiopeia? And guess who else worked in this club?

Now this will not be an easy fun story because there will be many twists and turns before we can get to a HEA for these two. Now if you add the characters especially J.T's daughter. Bethany, along with some special friends...Zu Christian to name a few you will have one good well-written story from start to finish. I don't want to leave out the parents of both of these main characters [Cassie & J.T] were good in how they were brought into the story.

I especially enjoyed how this author brings the story to the end when the winner is presented for this talent show...Cassi, Christian or J.T. and omg how this story will give the reader a real surprise. Now, I don't want to tell you what is and all how it's happening but just to say you will have to pick up 'Rising Star' to see how well it all comes out. Indeed I was surprised and the ending was really something sweet too. This is one of those stories that when you think you have it all figured out..you will see you simply don't! Like I said earlier yes, we will get a good ending with a wonderful HEA for these two.

I love Cassi and JT!
“Rising Star” is a fun and funny tale about contestants of a TV talent show called Rising Star. The main characters Cassi, JT, and Christian have dramatic ups and downs, twists and turns and hot steamy relationships on the road to the winner’s circle that is even more complicated when Cassi and JT, the show favorites become involved. Minor characters Zu and JT’s daughter Bethany add spice and quirky humor to this tale that you can’t put down. This tale will keep you guessing until the end. Recommended!

I love rockstars bands etc it’s my absolute favourite genre and this is Cassiopeia’s ( Cass ) and J.T.’s story it’s funny and entertaining. Cass leaves Mississippi and goes to California to be a contestant and perform in a music talent show called Rising Star. J.T. was going to a seminary but instead he ended up working in a bar and the club scene where he loved to share his music, J.T. becomes a contestant in Rising Star as well and that’s where he meets Cass, but who will be the winner in the end well I will leave that up to you to find out for yourself. Fantastic story and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

I've read a lot of books written by J. Haney & S.I Hayes; they have done a great job at writing a good book; they are some of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books their books.

The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.

I loved the chemistry between the characters.

The great plot was well written and the characters were so well developed that as I turned each page the chemistry between the characters kept me totally hooked until the very last page!

Music, drama, baby momma drama, a girl stepping into womanhood, and throw in some more drama. That's the short version of this story! Cassi is sassy, and doesn't put with crap from anyone!!! She is my hero!! Jackson (JT), how do I describe this man? He is an amazing father with an amazing voice, and as Cassi would say he has a magic ..... well you can guess what I mean. These 2 weren't looking for anything serious, but fate kinda slapped them in the face with that. Cassi has to deal with the fact that she works with the baby momma, and that causes issues in and of itself. Cassi and JT both get on the show Rising Star, and while competing on said show... you guessed it drama ensues. After these 2 get over themselves, and realize they can't live without each other they finally get their HEA.

(They were all short and fast, a lot of fade to black as well)

I liked that this story was not just about the spice but it had a pretty cool plot as well.
A girl and a guy compete to become the rising star aka their version of American idol. The girl is someone who does not really like to follow the rules and works as a stripper when she is not singing amazingly on stage. The guy used to be a priest, but now struggles to take care of his 10 year old pubescent daughter and a crazy drugged up ex wife.

The only beef that I have with this book (pun intended) was that there was way more details about food than the singing. Describe a whole thanksgiving dinner will leave your mouth watering, but what happened during the competition? How did they perform the songs? 🤷‍♀️
