Well written, unexpected twists and turns. Did not see the end coming. Story moved along at a nice pace. Looking forward to reading more books by this author.

A western story with a strong female character, twists and turns throughout and not a lagging moment in the entire book. I will be checking out this author's other books!

One of my favorite books... a Western with a female protagonist... Delphinia is a young woman raised mostly by her mother because her father is always away from home chasing down outlaws.
On a surprise visit home from Hawke, the very outlaws he's chasing attack their family and Del is left alone. As a young woman struggling to find her own way in the world, she has the added worry of the remaining outlaws who are out for blood and a young suitor who won't take no for an answer.
Del is an incredibly capable young woman who never becomes a Mary Sue. She's quick thinking and has a bucketful of sense, but she's just trying to keep her head above water and never really feels like she has a complete grasp on her life.
I love and love to hate the characters in this book... points to the author for keeping everyone full and fleshed out and interesting.

This story has a strong female character up against the bad guys who killed her father. I am a major fan of Mrs. de la Garza. If you grew up in the golden age of television where westerns were king, you will love this book, and the others from this author.

This book had a really good story and was simple to read. I would have liked for the characters to have a little more complexity, but I enjoyed this book the whole way through.
