Melissa Winn is a child psychologist, passionate children’s book author, poetess, mother of two children, and more recently a grandmother. Her life revolves around children, both her family, her vocation, and her aspirations.
Since early childhood, Melissa has had an affinity for the written word which was fueled by her vivid imagination. As she raised her children, she made up her own fairytales to teach them about daily challenges, wrote small poems, and drew the illustrations. At the time, she had no ability to publish her work, but thanks to the wonders of indie publishing, it is now possible to transform her passion into a vocation.
Currently Melissa works as the founder of Wise Publisher Books. She supports young authors and illustrators by publishing their books, as well as continuing to work on her own projects.
After her grandson was born, she noticed how eagerly he developed a love of books, and how useful those books were in helping him develop his social skills. This inspired her to write a new book series – one targeted for infants -- short poems with colorful illustrations which will each be published as a separate book. Some of these stories are funny and aim to create an exuberant mood; some are tender to help a parent convey love and safety; while other books in the series are purely educational. Melissa is currently drawing illustrations to go along with her latest project, a cute book about “Hugs and Kisses.” And her upcoming release aims to make potty training easier for parents.
All parents know how important a patient, psychological approach is for their children. Melissa believes books can help as she has watched how attentively her grandson listened to poems, and how easy the education process became once she added rhymes and illustrations. To a grownup, children’s problems may seem like ordinary, minor issues, but to a child, they can be terrifying and uncomfortable for. Our job as parents is to help them deal with it. Melissa's goal is to give every child a chance to explore the world with joy and love.

A sweet little book with amazing illustrations.

The content shows the various ways by which parents demonstrate their love for their kids. This is depicted through a variety of animal parents with their young ones. The animals are quite diverse, ranging from an iguana to a tortoise to a dolphin to a bear to the toucan on the cover. Their methods of showing their love also differs greatly, tickling their little one’s tummy, cooking their favourite dish, caressing them in bed, or simply spending some time next to them.

I love the thought behind the book. Love indeed can be shown in various ways and this communication needn’t be verbal. I remember reading "The Five Love Languages", which so beautifully explained how each of us has a specific love language and what works for one may not work for another. This book takes that same principle and demonstrates to its young readers how there could so many different ways by which their parents show them their love.

As good as the intent is, the content could have done with some fine-tuning. The text is written in rhythmic prose, with most rhymes in the three-liners following the ABA pattern. The rhymes are average; sometimes they work wonderfully, sometimes, they feel forced. I would have loved the book better had the text been in simple prose without the rhymes. It is because of the forced attempt to get the words to rhyme that the result became slightly messy.

The best part of the book would be the illustrations. They are adorable! All the animal family are drawn in a really cute way that is bound to keep little readers happy.

Overall, definitely a good indie attempt. The illustrations and the brilliant thought behind the book make up for the above average text, Do try.

3.75 stars.

The book is available on Kindle Unlimited.

This was a cute book on how babies learn to love from their parents. It has cute illustrations and a little blurb about each type of animal. Small children would enjoy this being read to them while they look at the pictures.

The only thing every child needs is love. Ralph bunny loves a tummy tickle. Isy the Iguana enjoys little kisses. Jack the Jaguar likes snuggling with Dad. Olivia the Otter enjoys spending time with her Dad. He never fails to comfort her when she is sad. Who comforts you when you are sad? How about when you are happy?
The babies look blissful as they are, I'm pretty sure, gritty many hugs and kisses. All the bright rhyming words set the mood for butterfly kids and sweet dreams for sleep tonight.
I found this book on a Kindle Unlimited a website and so can you.
