She did it. After years of hard work Sam finally has her own talent agency. She’s the CEO and things are amazing. Kind of. Business has been so good that the company is growing fast…too fast. Sam needs money to hire people and her back is up against the wall. Letting investors in means losing full control of everything that she’s built and she refuses to do that, but the clock is ticking and she doesn’t have any other choices. Or does she? Pretty soon she's in over head with a new business venture, an old business associate, and a client who pulls a disappearing act. What else could go wrong? Plenty! This book is the follow up book to "This Wasn't The Plan".

Fast, enjoyable, good read

I really liked the book. Maybe that's why I felt the ending came a little out of left field. Great characters and felt the business setting was well done. I read both books in this series in 3 days, so definitely enjoyed Fenwick's books!

Got annoying at the end

I managed the first book but by the end of the second I found the main character extremely childish.

Her pattern of walking out of meetings and ignoring calls isn’t realistic in the business or personal world. You can’t just ignore problems and work on something else instead!

Her ignorance of Lance was obnoxious and the fact that they didn’t end up together, even sadder.

The story of the boots was even more unrealistic as the initial pair of boots they cut up was someone else’s designs! They had no claim to the boots themselves.

Just UGH at the end.

Samantha Reynolds has agreed to a partial merger of her company Horizon, with that of her former boss, Lance Rossi. The same boss she walked out on without notice after a heated argument. And wound up forming her own company. With the same client he had objected to originally. He needs her companies experience with female talent to bring in much needed finances to his own company. Only he didn’t tell Sam about that.

The companies are supposed to honor agreements and not pursue clients already signed by the other company. Things come to a boil when lance signs one of Sam’s clients, Sam breaks the merger and moves out on her own. Things conspire to bring both companies to the edge of being out of business unless they can both swallow their pride and work together again.

This is a short Chick lit story, that has developed characters, and a decent plot. It is a clean read with no profanity or risqué scenes in it.

I was excited when I heard there was a book 2 to continue this story. While this is a series the ending to book 1 wasn't a cliffhanger at all and neither is book 2.

I really really love the way this author writes. If you have seen the series "Shrill" on Netflix then you will LOVE this series. Maybe this author writes for the show?! It's fiction but it is not fairy tale. It's got an emphasis on REAL LIFE issues and facing them realistically and I love that. The MC isn't a petite beauty, she's chubby and self-conscious and I think it is wonderful to watch her slowly stand up for herself. There's humor and some romance this time, but like with book 1 there's a plot twist so don't think you have figured anything out!

I didn't give 5 stars because I would have liked for the story to be longer. I did love it, I just wanted more!

Backup Plan is Book 2 in the What's the Plan Series. I have been anxiously waiting for this book to come out and I am so glad its finally here. I love the romance and the plot is so well written, I never expected to see a twist in the romance plot. There is more romance in this one and I liked it, and also liked the twist in the plot. This author has a unique style of writing that just flows so effortlessly. Whats a good romance without some laughs? I also loved the complex characters the author has crafted and the enduring friendship that is seen throughout the book.
I highly recommend this book. I am hoping this series continues. I cannot wait to see what happens next!

I was waiting for this release, and it didn't disappoint. There is more romance in this one and I liked it, and also liked the twist around the romance. Just like the first book, if you think you know what's going to happen you're wrong. I love the authors writing style. These books are fiction but also realistic and for some that might not work but it does for me. Very funny also, and I love the friendship between Sam and Holly. I am hoping there's another book in the series. There are no cliff hanger endings in book 1 or this book either, a definite plus. Great read!

This is the second book in the series. I liked it but I feel that the ending was very rushed. It felt like she was trying to tie up too many loose ends in the past few pages.

It's okay.

Admittedly, this wasn't my favorite book. It's not terrible, but it's just not something I would go out of my way to read again.
