Author Leonard J. Duhl, M.D. is a professor at U.C. Berkeley and is part of the sponsor for the environmental health De-Cal class I took. This is a good book about how positive change can happen.
Favorite Quote: "Health, then is not a special commodity. It is not something that can be bought and delivered, or produced by physicians. Health is related to life, how we are created, grow, live and die. It is how we are and how we feel, as well as how we relate to those around us, both our intimates at work and home and the many others whom we encounter more or less casually. A brief encounter with a tailgater or a rude salesperson can affect how we feel for hours. Seeing a dead dog on the highway, reading a disturbing newspaper story, enjoying a plum tree in bloom - all these acts affect our health. Health is related to the total environment in which we live, including all the living organisms that make up our world." (P. 73)
