The Beauty of the In-Between is about learning to fully embrace the space between where you are and where you want to be. It’s about embracing God's process; the ups and downs, zigzags, uncertainties, struggles, detours, seasons of doubt, and the waiting. In the life of King David, we get a front row seat to this not-so-direct journey of discipleship that God often leads us down in order to shape our hearts and our future. It’s also in this not-so-direct journey where we discover our identity (pasture), we learn the indispensable lesson of surrender (cave), and we discover that even in the midst of the in-between we can find a greater purpose (palace).
This book is not a fix it, fix you, do these steps. This book is vulnerable, realistic and refreshing. So much that I needed to be reminded of and needed to hear. It's a small book, but a slow read because of the amount of times I kept saying, you are so right, I need to stop right here. Such a needed read. Will likely pick Matt's book up multiple times a year.
This book is excellent. It quickly became one of my favorites—not because of the writing style—but because of its authenticity and richness. It’s a fairly short book but it took me longer to read because after reading a chapter I wanted to stop and think about it for a day. You can tell this book came out of Nelson’s personal experience and relationship with Christ. This book opened my eyes to the beauty and purpose of even the hardest seasons in life and it inspires humility, surrender, joy, and authenticity in relationship with God.
