With Keystone’s mayoral election coming up, the candidates have decided to host a 1920s themed whodunit party at the inn. It’s all fun and games until Ella discovers one of the candidates dead in the basement—and it’s not part of the act.
Top on the suspect list are the other mayoral hopefuls, including Ella’s boss, Wink.
Now, Ella must wade through a past of gangsters, speakeasies, and booze to hunt down a killer. Of course, this is to help the overburdened sheriff, mind you, and has nothing to do with her own motivations.
However, this case is as clear as the mud she serves in the diner. In a mansion full of witnesses, nobody saw a thing. Someone is lying to her…. She just has to figure out who. And soon, before the killer strikes again.
This is book four in the funny, quirky Traveling Town mystery series.
Keystone Village is hosting a 1920's party at the Inn, with the purpose being meeting all the candidates for the Mayoral election. It's an interesting group, with two candidates being against alcohol. Ella overhears a conversation they are having indicating that Patience is doing something that Charles thinks is unwise. Later, Ella hears music coming from the basement and goes to explore, where she finds Charles dead. Patience comes in and starts screaming that Ella killed him. There are some curious things that turn up and some questions answered. Will and Ella still are not sure where and how fa to go with their relationship. Ella still wants to find her way back to current times, and they both are unsure how they would respond if this happens. These are fun stories to read and things to ponder, and they will immediately pull you in and you feel a vested interest in the lives of this lively cast of characters. Crimes and mysteries do get solved.
It has been awhile since I read the first 3 books in the series, but I had no problem remembering past details. I never was fully clear about why the book started out with the staging of a "solve the mystery" party. The mystery itself was kind of confusing. I've never been a fan of mysteries about the "roaring 20's with their flappers and gangsters and prohibition bootlegging, so my lack of enthusiasm about the book is more personal preference than anything actually wrong with the book.
Ella and her boss Wink along with Flo set out to solve who killed one of the mayorial candidates at a 1920s themed party. AS they do, they stir up more controversy and secrets, but, as always they do find out whodunit. Now Ella has to decide just where should she and inventor Will go with their attraction and relationship.
Phantoms and Photographs (A Traveling Mystery bok 4
This was another winner. I highly recommend all her books and different series. She writes a good mystery and has great characters. This series has really been interesting as they travel into different eras and she writes interesting history in every place they travel. Diana Romano
Definitely enjoyed reading this book in the series. The characters are fun and a little crazy. Their interactions are such fun to read. A really good read.
I am really enjoying this series of crazy, quirky characters, mayhem, and mystery. It is so well-written that it pulls you right along to the end and as you wanting more!😄
Very interesting and a new twist. A town that travels through time with its residents. The characters are well developed Best to read the series in order
Prohibition figures deeply in this comedy of errors and entertainment. Ella and friends are off on another mission to solve a crime. Laughter happens as you read.
I’m not into giving reviews, but this series is light and fun with mystery and emotions! I will keep reading about keystone and all it’s characters til the author is done writing about them!
