The Case of the Power Spell book one
Penny is a PI though not everyone takes her practice seriously. After flunking out of the local police academy, Penny set out on her new career as a PI. She has been at it for five years, but isn’t quite as successful as she’d like others to believe.
She does have an office. Of course it used to be a supply closet for another business. There isn’t much crime in town so her clients are often few and far between. Most of her office hours are spent knitting. In fact the only thing Penny is always on time for is her weekly knitting circle.
Her fellow knitters are also her coven. A year ago, when a local woman died, Penny inherited an interesting book, The Art and Science of Becoming a Witch, better known in the coven as ASBW. Penny shared the book with her closest friends, her knitting circle, and the ladies began to pursue their new avocation.
With her office, the knitting circle, and her boyfriend, Chris, Penny has a full plate. But when the mayor comes to her asking that she discover the reason behind a secret his wife is keeping, and her unusually sad behavior lately, Penny’s curious mind leads her to a murder investigation of a death the police called accidental.
How can a murder have the answers to the mayor’s questions? Follow penny’s circular trail and find out.
The Case of the Banishing Spell book 2
It is easy to fall into this zany cozy series. Light, enjoyable reading. Penny’s familiar, her cat, Turkey, has quickly become my favorite character.
Things are going fairly well for the Hillcrest Coven. They are making headway through the ASBW. Each is becoming a bit more proficient with magic. But when their town is threatened by werewolves, will they be up to the challenge?
The Historical Society hosts a bonfire dance every fall. Not only is it a big hit for the townspeople, but it provides a good chunk of the Hillcrest Inn’s yearly income. The inn’s yard is the yearly location. The innkeepers, Dawn and Neville, definitely need this event to go off without a hitch.
When there is a large bloody paw print in one of their guest rooms, being rented by a stranger in town not long before the date of the bonfire, it is a cause for alarm. More than that, Neville is positive he spotted two large wolves on the street outside the inn. Could their new guest be keeping a dangerous, endangered creature right there in his room?
It is a good thing Penny is a friend, and will work for jam in this case. She and Marley set up a stake out, only to be thrown into the middle of more late night activity than they ever would have suspected for their town. When the guest turns up murdered, Penny is square in the middle of a murder investigation that very well could involve werewolves!
The Case of the Desire Spell book 3
The girls are back and going strong in this third Hillcrest witch cozy. For a quiet small town in Colorado, Hillcrest is full of fun, fantastic creatures, and murder. If you want a quiet evening being entertained by a zany but lovable group of characters, try out this series.
Penny’s coven is ready for the third cycle in the guide book to becoming witches, The Art and Science of Becoming a Witch. However they run into trouble when all copies of their book disappear. Who could be stealing the precious books and why?
Fortunately for them all, Turkey, Penny's cat familiar, remembers a spell to lock the portal, hopefully ensuring that the culprit can’t leave the Earth realm. There are a lot of suspects. Max, the vampire, once tried to buy the book from Penny, Azure, the Air realm witch, tried to steal it, and though Penny wants to trust Silas, the werewolf, especially now that he is in a relationship with her coven sister, Cora, he is the other new person in town who knows about the book.
Then when Cora’s employer ends up murdered things get even more complicated. Hillcrest is too small for the crimes to be unconnected. Why would anyone want to kill the lawyer? Silas may have a motive since she was representing the Historical Society to try and save a building on land he has purchased, but what about the others?
On top of all else, Penny has been a PI for five years and her license is up for renewal. If she doesn’t pass a review exam by Friday, she will lose her right to conduct investigations! Can Penny come out on top with all these things happening at once?
The Case of the Trust Spell book 4
Four books into this series and fresh wit, the value of friendship and murders are still going strong in Hillcrest. This is a delightfully whimsical witch cozy.
Penny has the portal closed, no one can come in from other realms or leave the Earth realm. Since this new coven inherited the responsibility for the portal, a lot of chaos has entered their realm. Cora also found her perfect mate in a stranger coming to visit the realm. So should the ladies keep the portal closed, or allow others in?
When Annie contacts someone from the Spirit realm in an attempt to speak to her deceased husband, that is the question that arises. Annie and Fred, a spirit living in the Spirit realm, are becoming friends via their remote contact. It seems the residents of the spirit realm are avid tennis fans, and playing in the Earth realm is more of a challenge for them than at home. Twenty years ago there was a tournament for their top tennis players held in the Earth realm. Should the coven let in athletes from Spirit realm visit for round two of this tournament?
The current cycle for the coven is the trust spell, and they are having a hard time with it. Maybe extending trust to other realms will help. Eight tennis players and a judge come through the portal for a two day tournament. Almost immediately someone is murdered. Could they have invited a murderer into their midst?
It’s up to penny to discover the truth before the tournament ends and everyone goes home.
The Case of the Vision Spell book 5
Turkey, Penny’s cat familiar in the series, is the cat everyone needs. He is fast on his way to becoming a tycoon with his online consulting agency. Imagine your cat supporting you instead of vice versa! Dive in to this delightful series and learn to see the world in a different way with The Case of the Vision Spell.
This cycle the witches are quite confused with the Vision Spell. It tells them to learn to see without their eyes. It’s a good thing they have their knitting to keep them occupied while they try and figure it out.
Between knitting, witchcraft, her detective agency and new boyfriend Max, Penny really has her hands full. When the town librarian brings Penny a document that she suspects if forged, she has to put away the needles and start nosing around in the history of one of the town’s revered residents.
Asking questions in the wrong place results in a murder. Penny needs to find all the answers before the town turns out to celebrate their person of the year. Maybe if she can master the vision spell, she will be able to see the situation more clearly. Can Penny learn this spell and find the murderer?
