Summary- "Holy Guacamole and Other Scrumptious Snacks" by Nick Fauchald, with illustrations by Rick Peterson. This is an excellent book full of recipes that children can make with little adult supervision. This book includes a page with the food pyramid on it. On each recipe page, the food pyramid is pictured. It tells what category of the food pyramid that the recipe fits into. This is an excellent resource for parents and children to adapt to healthy snacking. It includes recipes from easy to advanced and includes a special tips glossary for definitions of baking vocabulary. Making these recipes will get the children up and moving around.

As one of Jenson's seven good reasons to have children move around, circulation gives the body a break from musculoskeletal tensions (Jenson, 2000).

The recipes are organized into three sections: Easy; Intermediate; and Advanced. They range from Pineapple Popsicles; Quick Energy Trail Mix; and Mini Pepperoni Pizzas; to Chili Cheese Popcorn; Yogurt Fruit Kabobs; and Gooey Granola Bars.

Recipe books usually fly off the shelf here. It is nice to have a book with illustrations to help younger readers get through the recipe. I like it because it adds the food pyramid and nutrition notes. It also gives illustrations to the cooking utensils one might need plus some glossary words. Most importantly it has a note to parents about children cooking.

This has some easy and yummy looking recipes for kids to do with limited adult assistance. I got some good ideas myself in this one, including a pimento cheese dip. Nice illustrations, too!

This has some great easy foods for kids. I especially liked the quesadilla bites, the pepperoni pizza, chili cheese popcorn and the parmesan pita chips.
