The Cross #2

Invisible Masterpiece

Rate this book
My name is Sage Cross.

I’ve got it all--the man, the money, the mastered dream.

I wasn’t supposed to fall for him. Jacob Storm--Manhattan’s well-known womanizer. It was worth it, though.

The darkness.
The trial.
The scandals.
The secrets.

The world came at us. Against us.

But I’ve worked too hard to lose it all. To get to where I always wanted to be.

Would our love unite us? Or would our empire crumble to the ground--two broken people who know nothing about love succumbing to its perfect poison--darkness.

2.5 Why Mama Why? stars

Sage is free to be with Jacob and nothing could be sweeter. All Jacob wanted was to tell the world that they were together and here was their chance. But nothing is ever that easy. Sage is still riddled with insecurity and unemployed. And while Jacob is also without a job, he's a self-made millionaire and he's got options. With her dad in jail, charged with murder, life is about to get real interesting for these two.

And I trodded on... I think getting this far gave me a sense of accomplishment. At the beginning of this series, I couldn't see myself to the end. I almost gave up quite a few times. Sage was my cross to bear and she was hella heavy. Between the incessant unnecessary details about her life, like the brand of her soap or the detailed analyses of her wardrobe changes, and the many ways this character wanted to be all grown up without having a clue what that meant, wading through it all was an arduous task. While I can say that this author's writing was enough to keep me going, I wasn't a fan of everything she had to write.

Invisible Masterpiece gives us tons of sex, touches of drama, and a story about two people finding love everlasting.

Invisible Masterpiece 3.8 Stars

I really loved Sage and Jacob with their forbidden romance in book one. Invisible Masterpiece is how they live their life in the aftermath of the big showdown. Sage has to deal with her fathers past and life he had mapped out for her.

Jacob and Sage are still going HOT! Their chemistry never stops. The story line I enjoyed. The only thing I felt that was a little "off" was that things were resolved too easily. The struggles in book one were easily washed in book two. But the partnership and two people trying to start over made up for it. You get the "sweeter" side of the story. I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and will continue to read books by M.H.B.

This book was more mundane details onto the now free relationship that was kept as a hiden affair in the previous book

Personally it felt unnecessary to make two books, however for anyone looking for sexy times and development of the relationship between Sage & Jacob then these books will be perfect for you. There was conclusion to some issues of the past thou we see our leading lady be riddled with insecurities.

In my conclusion these books are good at welcoming a new readers to a new author, the few issues I had with them it may be the next reader won't nip pick as I have.

M.H.B., ‘Invisible Masterpiece’.
The Cross Series, book 2.

As an ARC reader I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily wrote an honest review. Here it is.
‘Invisible Masterpiece’ is part 2 in the Cross Series. To understand the novel it’s recommended to read first book 1 of the Series: ‘Invisible Leash’. So I’ll start this review with a summary of book 1.

‘Invisible Leash’.
Rating: 4 (of 5 stars).
In general: Trophy wife of real Love?

Main characters:
- Sage Cross (22).
She just finished her Law studies and is looking for a job in NY. But her dad wishes her to become the trophy wife of Lincoln Black (29), his protege and a man from a ‘good’ family, who will run for the Senate. Sage’s family is very wealthy owning a big train company. As long as Sage is jobless she is financially dependent on her family and follows her father’s wishes.
- Jacob Storm (27).
He’s co-owner of an important newspaper company. Seeing Sage at a party the womanizer is attracted to her at first sight. But Sage’s relationship with Lincoln is a big obstacle.
Then the author, M.H.B., describes how secretly Sage and Jacob fall in love while in public Sage acts as Lincoln’s girlfriend during his campaign. The relationship between Sage and Jacob is complicated because of her pr relationship with Lincoln (who admires her) and business problems of Jacob. The book ends in an enormous cliffhanger (and I hate that). Moreover I don’t quite understand that the sassy, independent Sage for a long time - against her wish - follows her father’s precepts.

‘Invisible Masterpiece’.
Rating: 4,5 (of 5 stars).
In general: Finding happiness after a difficult start.

This book 2 in the Cross series is about the same main characters as book 1. ‘Invisible Masterpiece’ starts with the arrest of Sage’s dad for murdering a man who tried to blackmail him. Although Sage hated her manipulating father, she is shocked and not convinced of his guilt.
After this unexpected beginning of book 2 the author describes how the relationship of Sage and Jacob ‘Jake’ develops. It’s a sweet love story with many hot scenes. But it’s also the story of a strong heroine who grows as an adult personality, becoming economically independent, a valued lawyer and the equal of her lover, a successful, confident businessman. Moreover: Sage is able to overcome the dark experiences from her past and gradually realize es that she can have a permanent relationship based on love. A great mix of romance and character development.

First, I want to thank M.H.B. for providing me with this book so I may bring you this review.

Have you missed Jacob and Sage from Invisible Leash?! Missed their amazing passionate chemistry they both had?! Well M.H.B is back again with part 2 in Invisible Masterpiece. Oh yes!!! Jacob is a masterpiece alright!! Now for all of those readers who have not read the first book-you must-go read that book first! You will get a better idea of the characters and the storylines.

I love how M.H.B thanks her Mom in this book. How she states that there is nothing like a mom who has given up everything for her children. Nothing like a Mom who built her own empire from the ground up. Nothing like a Mom who refused to let the dark thorns of life prod the light out of her admiring instead the beauty of such rose petals.

Atticus had it right on the money when he said she wasn’t looking for a knight, she was looking for a sword.

WOW! What an incredible start to this book! Totally unlike Invisible Leash!! Immediately it drew me in with so much excitement and drama from the first page just alone!! The political drama from the last book just hit the fan in this book. I will admit for a girl who is not into politics-I loved this!

Reading how Jacob as a boy dealing with his mother really tore me up inside. To have a young kid to see his own mother like that I can’t imagine the emotional turmoil it caused him. I wanted to reach in and just hold him and comfort him.

Gotta love Birthday sex! Man, oh man can M.H.B. write some steamy sex scene’s! I thought they were good in the last book oh they were better in this book.

I didn’t realise this was the second book in the series, I read it ok as a standalone but I think I would definitely like to read the first book also. I liked the intrigue behind the author so I was looking forward to reading it and overall I was really impressed. I was quickly drawn into the story and noted how well written the story was. The drama started on the very first page and continued on throughout the story. The story was quite emotional at times and the author really got that across in their writing. I really felt for Jacob and everything that he went through. On the opposite side to the emotional part of the story we had the intense steamy connection that the characters had and I must admit this author wrote it well – very, very well! It’s good to see an author that can write well from all angles – it made for a well-rounded story!
A great read that I recommend but would definitely say to read the books in order!

💖Top 10💖

This is book 2 by M.H.B. seeing more of Sage and Jake in a way that will make you just love them more. Romance and love is not something Sage is into not since well that night. It's been years but still it haunts her and it takes a strong man like Jake to make her feel loved again. In book 1, Invisible Leash, we see her obedient, nice and well not in control of her life with feelings turning her life upside down. The chemistry between them is unlike anything I have read it is still giving me goosebumps how his feelings towards her was like. Sage is a strong woman yet we see a vulnerability in her nobody sees even Jake sometimes himself. There is just so much M.H.B. did in this book definitely highly recommended in every way and readers beware Jake is a man you would dream about after you done. Loved it.

What a great story! I have enjoyed reading the story of Sage and Jacob. While both have trust issues, they need to learn to communicate. If you think you should tell your significant someone something before you do it, 9 times out of 10 you should do it! Both Sage and Jacob went from not caring about the opposite sex, to not being able to live without the other. Scandal after scandal continues to plaque their relationship.

You get secrets, a few twists, truths, lots of steamy scenes and a passion between Sage and Ethan that is nothing other than HOT! I look forward to reading Lincoln’s story. I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems ARC’s and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Whew, the drama remains constant in this series. Sage and her past really tugs the emotions, very intense. Their combined distrust and jealousy was a bit immature to me at this stage in their relationship. All the loose ends seem nicely tied up but I am sure that Lincoln will stir up some stuff in his upcoming book. I am happy that Jason & Sage are finally......that they finally get a chance at love and happiness. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.

This was a nice conclusion to the story in Invisible Leash.

Sage and Jacob are now free to have a public relationship, but we know media scandal will always follow 'celebrities'. We learn more about who is in jail and why.

Moreso, we see the growth Sage continues to go through both personally, relationship and otherwise. Their steamy relationship was not only because of the rush felt because it was hidden but so much more.

I received an ARC copy from Candid Book Reviews, but I am not obligated to review.

Haven't read this author before but the blurb intrigued me so I read both books in succession..I have to say I enjoyed the story, first the scandalous relationship then the more openly free relationship.
There were things that made it a bit hard to read fluidly, for me anyway. Too much details and I felt like skipping at times..also I liked the characters enough but I didn't love them.
Still the story was entertaining.

Very steamy and very well written. This is the second book of the series so I would recommend reading the first book before you tackle this one. You could feel every emotion in this book. A really good read.
