A companion volume to Meditations for New Mothers , this collection of meditations is designed for mother's who've reached the next stage-facing the new set of anxieties, joys, trials, conflicts, demands, and day-to-day challenges of parenting toddlers. Continuing with the first book's supportive, embracing tone and format, Meditations for Mothers of Toddlers offers meditations on Growing Up, Self-Esteem, Setting Limits, Revolving Personalities, Self-Blame, and Laughter ("When I hear the unbridled laughter of my child, I laugh wholeheartedly, with him"). Accompanying each meditation is a quote, from Katharine Mansfield to Elayne Boosler, on being a single mother.
It took me a while to get through the whole book because it was fun to try to meditate on the stuff that's in it. It's a great book, even when you don't have kids. Personally, I don't. I was using it because it had a lot of calming messages, plus it's great research to try to understand the stress of being a mother when you don't have kids yourself. It's a good book. I'd definitely recommend it to real mothers.
I gave this to my sister-in-law when she was in the midst of toddlerhood; she gave it to me a decade later when I had my own little toddler and was I ever glad she did! This little book helped me in many ways and often helped me gain a better perspective on raising my daughter.
I wonder if she has a book on meditations for mothers of tweens and/or teens!
