As a beginner poker player, I found this book extremely helpful. It strikes a good balance between detailed calculations and mental shortcuts easily applied mid-game. I haven't read other books on poker math, so I can't say how this stacks up, but I've already found it quite useful
The description of the book reads better on Amazon than the actual book. Maybe the book might be better to a more experienced poker player, but a lot of the concepts have to be learned at the table. Throughout the book, the probability and odds are usually in the low teens...so you know the odds are bad...but you but you still have to play through it. You still need to know how to play your hands and you don't learn that through this book. Pick up brunson's super system to learn how to play hands. That will be more useful in the long run
This book helped me to improve my poker by helping to understand the math behind Parker tournaments. I have a long way to go to become a shark. But at least I'm on my way.
