A wonderfully moving and memorable account of a young girl's journey and struggles. Maija dreams of adventure and happiness. But life doesn't always turn out the way one hopes or expects it to, and Maija must to adjust to overwhelming experiences in order to survive. As a young woman, Maija discovers a love of swimming. Her coach teaches her how to be a strong swimmer as well as a strong person. His lessons stay with Maija and help her through her most difficult times. A real page-turner, the story held me from cover to cover. I thoroughly loved it!
