Annie Hudson's life has settled down. She has her store to run and a new dogsitting client named Waffles.
But when an elderly resident of her boyfriend's condo is found dead in the swimming pool, Annie finds herself in the middle of another murder investigation.
Telly Eagle was the HOA president and despised by most of the residents of The Pomegranate building. Now that she's dead, people are practically celebrating. But Annie and one of the victim's friends are convinced the death wasn't an accident. And now it's up to Annie and a cop working off the record to follow leads, interview suspects, and find the murderer without Annie's boyfriend or the cop's boss finding out.
And without becoming the murderer's next victims.
Poolside Panic is Book 4 of the light-hearted Walk in the Bark cozy mystery series. It features: ...an amateur detective whose spunk is liable to get her in trouble ...a dachshund-beagle mix who thinks he's a much bigger dog than he is. ...a small town full of quirky characters ...a mystery that will keep you guessing until you turn that last page ...no foul language, cliffhangers, or gore
I hadn't read in this series for going in four years but it didn't take long to catch up and remember how Annie always sleuthed with a cute dog she was sitting for—it definitely gave her more of an in with those she questioned. This time it was sweet Waffles, a dachshund and beagle mix who used his hound sniffer a couple times to help in the case.
I sure felt for Annie's friend Booth who deserved a promotion to detective and now I wish there was one more book to help give closure to a couple things that happened. Guess the imagination might have to step in since I doubt there'll ever be more in this series since it's been nearly six years since it was published.
This book is both exciting and intriguing. The story of the Walk in the Bark pet store is a fun way to bring home the idea to everyone about how important our pets are to our lives. Annie Hudson is a humorous person and she loves her store and her pets that make up her life. However, she just can’t seem to a avoid getting involved in crimes. Her boyfriend Hank doesn’t like it though. Grab a copy and find out what happens this time.
Another great addition to this series! The setting is different from other cozies that I have read. The story is well written with fun characters. I look forward to seeing what adventures/trouble Annie gets herself into next time!
