"It is part of satan's activity to encourage low self-image. He's happiest when we are most down on ourselves. He loves it when we get discouraged and quit. We've learned that we are partners with Jesus, and God wants us to wield authority and power, as we pray for His Kingdom to come. Our best approach to the self-image problem is to look squarely into who we are and act with confidence in opposing our enemy. To do this we need to:
1. Fight low self-esteem;
2. Experience the truth about who we are;
3. Recognize that we are in God's image;
4. Remember who we are;
5. See ourselves as higher than the angels;
6. Recognize that we have been chosen before creation;
7. Know that we have been adopted into God's forever family;
8. Know that we will never be abandoned;
9. Know that we alone, of all creatures, have been redeemed;
10. Know the dignity of Jesus' choice to be one of us;
11. Participate in God's war against satan;
12. Know that we are temples of God;
13. Know that God has given us a credit card;
14. Know the honour of being able to create others in His image;
15. Know the joy of being in partnership with God;
16. Know the joy of setting captives free;
17. Participate with Jesus in defeating satan;
18. Live yoked with Jesus in partnership;
19. Recognize that God has given us His power and authority to heal and to cast out demons;
20. To allow these truths to transform our view of ourselves;
21. Know what God thinks of us, and expects of us." (Charles H. Kraft, Satan Fears You'll Discover Your True Identity)
You are very powerful, not powerless; however, if you allow the enemy to deceive you and you never get to know who you are in Christ (your true identity), you will live a defeated life. If you do get to know who you are in Christ, then you will lead a victorious life! That is what this book is about. The author says, "In partnership with Jesus, we discover our true identity and we win....Satan will do everything possible to keep us from discovering our true identity."
The author makes an effort in this book to help the reader realize how valuable they are to God. He teaches that satan works in the opposite: to keep you from finding out your true identity by devoting resources to keep you from finding out. Some of the ways satan does this the author says include:
"1. Keeping you ignorant of his schemes
2. Piggy backing on reactions, such as, fear, anger, shame, rejection, guilt.
3. Taking advantage of subconscious habits
4. Giving life to inherited and temporary curses
5. Keeping alive old insecurities
6. Empowering a desire for revenge
7. Keeping negative memories alive"
This book made me realize how valuable I am to God, and how to have victory over the devil, by knowing that he is working very hard to cause me to think of myself as insignificant and powerless; however, once we know this scheme, and arm ourselves with our true identity, then we can cut off his lying head.
