Leading in a VUCA World: Integrating Leadership, Discernment and Spirituality

Rate this book
This open access book brings together works by specialists from different disciplines and continents to reflect on the nexus between leadership, spirituality and discernment, particularly with regard to a world that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA). The book spells out, first of all, what our VUCA world entails, and how it affects businesses, organizations, and societies as a whole. Secondly, the book develops new perspectives on the processes of leadership, spirituality, and discernment, particularly in this VUCA context. These perspectives are interdisciplinary in nature, and are informed by e.g. management studies, leadership theory, philosophy, and theology.

Me and my colleagues had great expectations from the text as its name revealed but honestly kept hunting for the context with no concrete evidence and results. May be the subject has been stitched in a way we as authors of two books on VUCA: THE VUCA Company and THE VUCA Learner ; we couldn't find any advancement.

The book combines experts’ views from diverse disciplines and continents to inspect the connections between leadership, spirituality, and discernment, particularly in an environment that is increasingly volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA). First and foremost, the book discusses what a VUCA world means and how it impacts corporations, organizations, and cultures as a whole. Second, the book offers new insights into leadership, spirituality, and discernment processes, particularly in this sense of the VUCA. The book’s interdisciplinary viewpoint is based on business research, the theory of leadership, philosophy, and theology.
