Anlon Cully Chronicles #4

Priestess of Paracas

Rate this book
We've all had them. Haunting dreams of past lives. They are so real, the details so fine, you wake up wondering if they might be distant memories instead of subconscious trickery. For Pebbles McCarver, they might be a bit of both.

After a near-death experience, she is tormented by recurring visions she can't escape. A woman running, full of fear and panic, always turning to look behind for a pursuer who never appears. Are they deeply buried thoughts seeking Pebbles' conscious attention? A manifestation of emotions from her near-death experience? Or could they be hidden links to an ancient mystery?

The journey to discover the answer leads Pebbles, Anlon Cully and Jennifer Stevens on a hair-raising adventure across an ocean, over mountains and into the heart of a jungle. To guide them on their way, Pebbles must confront the demons lurking in the shadows of her mind without losing her sanity in the process.

Priestess of Paracas, book four in the Anlon Cully Chronicles mystery-adventure series, steers readers over long-forgotten trails, through two-thousand-year-old ruins and into the mists of mythology. An all-new thriller that stitches together unexplained archaeological artifacts and lost relics with the enigmas presented by dreams.

K. Patrick Donoghue is the author of two series; the Anlon Cully Chronicles, an archaeology-based mystery-thriller series, and the Rorschach Explorer Missions, a new sci-fi thriller series.

Patrick's inspiration for the Anlon Cully Chronicles is rooted in his long-standing interest in ancient civilizations. In particular, a series of still-unexplained archaeological discoveries that suggest at least one advanced society thrived on Earth long before consensus views.

In similar fashion, Patrick takes a contrarian/alternative view toward deep space exploration, the existence of extraterrestrial life and ancient aliens in The Rorschach Explorer Missions.

His books include:

Shadows of the Stone Benders
Race for the Flash Stone
Curse of the Painted Lady
Priestess of Paracas (upcoming release: fall 2019)
UMO (Kindle eBook only at this time)
Skywave
Magwave (new release: July 31, 2019)

Just finished Priestess of Paracas. Another great story. As much as I look forward to reading through the story, at the end I am always a little sad because I miss the characters once the book is done. I believe that is why I like the incorporation of Anlon, Pebbles and Jennifer in the Rorschach Explorer Missions. The archeology and locations are always interesting and add to the story in such an extraordinary way. I truly enjoyed the book.
Can't wait for him to pen the next!

I was very excited to see an ad for this newest addition to the series. I loved the first 3 books. I find the premise of the Munuorians fascinating. And this book did not disappoint! My hat is off to the author. Brilliant story line, totally believable, totally engrossing. I sure hope there is more to come!

Keeps you reading

This 4th book of the series is interesting, but the story line keeps getting more complicated. Perhaps I wasn't able to keep all of the details in my mind, but it seemed like part of the story just came out of nowhere without any backstory. Don't even try to read this without reading the other three books first. All told, I did enjoy the series, it's worth a read.

Loving K. Patrick Donoghue

I would have given this book an absolute 5 stars, but I don't see it as a "stand alone book". My only gripe was that there was so much of the book that was recap of the last three books. I can't believe how much this amazing author has grown since the first book in this series. KPD, my husband and I love you and have loved this series. The readers of your first book that were so hard on you and didn't continue your series have no idea what they missed out on. I feel like your books are fantastic and witnessing your growth made the books 10,000 times better and more exciting! You should be so proud of the beautiful imagination God gave you. Your growth through this series should be viewed similarly to what was once an awkward bullied teenager showing up as a multi-millionaire at his high school reunion with a beautiful woman on his arm and having the last laugh. Happy to be one of your fans "eating crow" along side you!

This book packs an incredible culmination to the Anlon Cully series tying together many of the pieces left open in the Painted Lady! From the Sol Seaker back to the jungles of Peru in hopes of rescuing Pebbles from the increasing and troubling visions taking over her life, disrupting everything and everyone close to her. It is fascinating to put yourself into her shoes as the story unfolds, seeing the past so clearly though jumbled in time and sequence. The research bringing to life the past and watching it unfold is both breath-taking, and thought provoking. I felt the need to go back and re-read the previous book which I plan to do; in hindsight I should have done this first. I loved this book and will re-read it with new eyes. I am disappointed this is the last of the series because the characters have become old friends. Please continue these adventures.

An ancient culture that disappeared is brought to light by nightmares that seem to be memories

Pebbles was attacked, beaten, shot, kidnapped assaulted and strangled into a coma. Is it any wonder she is having ha ing horrific nightmares. However, the scenes and items she draws seem to be from an ancient civilization located in Paracus, Peru. Her nightmares seem to be memories of the Priestess of Paracus from 1800 years ago. Anon, Jennifer, Cesar, and others are determined to help Pebbles solve this puzzle.

This fourth in the Anlon Cully series is linked to the Minourian saga but differs in that there is no outside antagonist. Pebbles is dealing with the aftermath of her ordeal in the third book and realizes part of that trauma is due to someone hitching a ride in her mind. As the crew travels to various locations to spur the memories of the hitchhiker, an ancient battle is relived. Less action than the first three books but intriguing story nonetheless.

Great series

I love this series...and I love his other series even more! This story however, while interesting, really lagged compared to it predecessors. I think it dwelled to much on the internal strife and history, which really slowed the story down. That being said, it’s interesting and still well worth a read.

Thoroughly enjoyed this fantasy mystery thriller! It's Book 4 in a series and hadn't read any of the previous books, didn't need to. (I would now like to read some of the previous books.) That this includes archeological aspects and native cultures made it more interesting to me. Liked the characters, writing style and pace of the writing. Definitely recommend.

Epic

What a story!!! I'm impressed at the depth of background research that went into the series as well as how neatly this book tied up many loose ends. Having worked professionally in mental health and neurogy for many years, the psychological structuring for Pebbles, et. al. was well done. Hope there will be more from Mr. Donoghue.

You Got This Pebbles

Anlon and company are trying to help Pebbles with flashes from a past that don't belong to her. Flashes that aren't a nightmare. Flashes that are so real Pebbles can feel everything going on around her. The big question is "why". Do they figure it out? Sorry, you have to read it yourself. Very enjoyable. Great job. Thank you.

That was fun. Anlon, Jennifer, Pebbles, and friends wrap the first (and maybe only?) four books of the series, and it was a great ride and satifying ending.

Citali Leads the Chase

A fast moving sometimes confusing tale of Pebbles having nightmare and daymares. The subject is Citali a woman who was a keeper of things buried.

Great books

This series keeps you going on, hoping the books never end. At the end of each one, you hope more books will come out. You don't want them to end.
