The story of the Horned God can be heard in mythology from around the world. Like the Goddess, he is part of our psychological and spiritual heritage. Learn to make direct contact with your own ancient potentials with these simple techniques.
I picked up this book in a long-gone occult shop in Los Angeles in 1995 or thereabouts. Somehow it was still on my shelf. The COVID19 pandemic finally got me going through my witchy books. While the historical accuracy is questionable, I felt it was a worthwhile read. I see this book as mythology. Whether or not it can be academically verified (spoiler: it really can't), it is an inspiring story and it got me to reconnect with my spirituality. The horned god and I haven't talked in awhile, but 2020 is a lonely, desperate time and I'm glad to be back in the woods. Having the primal energy back in my life gives me hope for whatever comes next, and it's probably a lot healthier for me than all that bourbon I've been drinking lately.
Weaved Osiris and Horus, Cernunnos or Herne, Arthur, Lancelot/Gawaine together as the partner of the Great Goddess. Interesting book, though I wasn't too sure about some of it. It brought up Arthur/Uther as Osiris, while Lancelot/Gawaine was Horus's equivalent.
I did agree with the basic comment about still being unbalanced with the flow to the Great Goddess, and no God. We have almost flipped to far the opposite direction to get away from the Judeo-Christian-Islamic God only.
Supremely disappointed in a ludicrously redactive syncretism that furthers the notion of the lost continent of Atlantis as the source of all magick. Erasing all pluralistic ethnic identity from England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Egypt, and continental Europe in one stroke to advance the theory that the Egyptian gods were actually imported from Atlantis. In the latter portion of the work, Richardson even refers to the Romani peoples as Gypsies in order to posit the incredibly farcical theory that they are a lost "'Gyptian" tribe bearing the occult secrets of the ancient world.
In sum, I came here to find reconstructed initiate mysteries for men, and found a staggeringly racist personal gnosis with some very weak, derivative, and unhelpful magickal writing shoehorned into the final pages.
