★Have you ever read a story where the main character gets pushed down and continuously gets back up again? Sure, you have. But I assure you. I'm different.★
I’m the most powerful person on the planet. I simply don’t know it yet. To get to the point of knowing it, I must be pushed to the edge of death and back. I must learn to trust again. And I must become part of the Apex Division. My story is full of death and destruction. It’s also full of hot romance and huge life lessons. The question is - can you grit your teeth during the hard parts to see if I make it? To see if I become powerful enough to get revenge on the people who hurt me. To see if I grow up enough to trust the people around me. To see if I truly am immortal. ★Come test your limits with me - Emma Cooper. And Welcome to the Apex Division. ★
⚠ Warning: This book contains themes that are hard to deal with ⚠ ♥♥ For lovers of shape shifters, action and adventure, paranormal romance and urban fantasy! This book brings a fresh spin on usual paranormal romance with it's modern and magic twists. Set on earth in a not too distance future with a population of people with power. These people with power include Shapeshifters, Vampires and Sorcerers. Similar to Mortal Instruments but much more gritty, sexy and raw. ♥♥
★★★ The Apex Division : A Drug called Freedom is book ①/④ in the Apex Division series ★★★
I'm Meg. I started writing when I was around 12/13, and all the ideas I had continued to linger in my head for a long time. Then I did something about it. A Drug called Freedom was started when I was thirteen. It travelled with me through my life. Since then I have graduated University, got married and have spent eight years working in childcare. But Emma and Jake kept returning to me. After I finished my degree, I returned back to the Apex Division and the ideas wouldn't stop flowing. So much so that I am now writing the 5th book. A book I never I knew existed.
I am from Yorkshire, England and I love it here. It truly is one of the most beautiful places on the planet. I'm now coming up to my 26th birthday and achieving things I never thought were possible.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and Welcome to the Apex Division.
This is something that I usually don't read, by that I mean stories that are heavy on the military side such as a special task force. However I was captivated by the book cover and then blurb so I thought to give it a go.
I am so glad that I did. It took a little getting used as the chapters flitted from past to present but I found my rhythm.
We follow Emma, a shifter of great ability. Unfortunately Emma wasn't handed the best cards in life and the book depicts abuse (of all kinds). Her animal a black panthers protects and heals her until she finds place she feels she belongs.
But the hardships are only just beginning and are coming to not only impact her but those that she has come to call family and love. She needs to grow and have confidence in herself and her powers.
Everyone that crosses Emma gets her all, be that all her love and loyalty or her wrath. But we don't face just one bad guy. There is a group and an organisation that she needs to face. So with her friends from around the world, all fellow shifters with the exception of a vampire or two, she starts her fight. But it's left on a cliffhanger that has left me wanting to carry on with the books to find out what happens next and how Emma is going to kick ass.
This book has had me in some tears over different events that took place for Emma and how I just want her find some happiness. But I guess that will come with the more I read.
Thank you Megan for showing me a new side to fantasy xXx
I have great respect for writers who can create fantasy worlds. And more respect for those who can let the fantasy world interact with real world seamlessly. Writer Megan Jones manages to create this very world in the form of a war, a passive war rather. Anti-Western Pledge has risen to bring equality to the world, but their concept of justice is slightly flawed. Apex Division of the UN is formed to fight the creatures that have formed Anti-Western Pledge.
While we are seeing the world through Emma, the newest recruit of the Apex Division, and someone with increasing powers. She is a shifter, like all the others of the Apex Division. Even the Anti-Western Pledge has shifters. This fight between the two to bring the world to justice will keep you glued. This novel is going to stay with you for days.
P.S. My personal favorite is Andor Reed, and you’ll know when you read why.
Gemma reviewed Apex Division: A Drug Called Freedom (book one) Great Book and Great, Relatable Characters - 17 May 2020 From the moment I started reading the Apex Division, I couldn’t stop. After every page you can’t wait to see what happens next, and all of the characters are unique in their own way and likeable. It is great to see how the main character develops, and I’d definitely recommend this book. The Apex Division makes you excited for the next adventure and leaves you wanting more. - review taken from amazon UK.
