For Brooklyn's Love

Rate this book
Brooklyn Myers loves her best friends, Tessa and Laila. They are indeed, sisters. They’ve each been on a journey of self-discovery since graduating from college. After a year of struggling to find work in their fields, Brooklyn is the first to find her groove and take a leap of faith into entrepreneurship. She writes a book called, Brooklyn's Basement, based on the four years she spent in a sex trafficking ring and launches an online boutique called, Brooklyn's Closet.

With Tessa and Laila as her business managers, things are starting to look up for them. Then, one cold weekend in the fall, she goes to a business conference hosted in downtown Philadelphia. There, she meets Barry Carter, a handsome businessman, and owner of Carter Sports Management & Consulting, a sports management company. They bump into each other at the food truck on their lunch break.

As they share their personal stories over lunch, Barry notices a sadness in Brooklyn that makes him want to explore her world. He listens to her heart and decides that even with his recent heartbreak, she’s worth pursuing. Months go on as Brooklyn and Barry get more acquainted, learning each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Eventually, Barry decides that he wants Brooklyn to be more than his friend and will do anything to protect their newfound courtship. Just as their love journey goes deeper, Barry’s ex, Simone, shows up, begging him to take her back.

Brooklyn does her best to endure Simone’s antics, but after she’s confronted by Simone while working with a major client, she walks away, not caring that Barry can’t control Simone’s actions. She’s had enough. As weeks go by, Barry becomes more determined to fight for the woman he knows is meant to be his wife. He’ll do anything to get her back – even if it means he has to risk getting hurt again. Will Brooklyn realize that bumps and bruises come with real, God-fearing love or will she allow the past that haunts her to push away the man she knows God sent her way?

Am Amazing read from the beginning to the end. Barry and Brooklyn are the perfect relationship goals. I loved the spirituality of this book and it made me want to get back to my faith more than I am now. If your looking for a book that talks about God, love careers, than this is the book. Really great book, especially for Christians! Book gave awesome vibes between both characters and definitely low key goals for a future husband/wife. Definitely recommendable

Dating with purpose (God's purpose) is the message

This faith-based love story between Barry, a successful sports agent, and Brooklyn, a fashion designer, and an author was a feel-good story of healing and allowing faith to guide you during your courtship. The story opens with Barry's 2yr relationship with a woman named Simone ending. She did what many do to those we claim to want and love and that plays emotional games, including the ever popular " I think i'm pregnant" or "I'm coming to use as a woman" and she lost.

Thanks to a spiritual nudging from God Barry went on to meet his future love at a conference. During their first date, a special prayer spoken solidified to the duo that God led them to each other. They both had a lack of love growing up including one being sold into a sex trafficking ring by a family member. The story takes you through them learning to heal from their past hurts, trust in faith and each other. It was a good story, but......That's what I felt at the end. It was good, but ...

And I still can't quite put my finger on what that "but' is yet.

Now, the author delivered solid backstories and current profiles for the characters. It ( the story) was well written and had great formatting. You weren't bogged down with the preachiness that can be found in most faith-based loves stories. The story was low on angst, drama, romance and of course, there was no sexual content to be found. I was okay with all of this...but.
However, there was something that didn't quite allow me to connect with the characters and become invested in their outcome. I think maybe I felt that there was some missed potential to make these characters interesting i.e. the Simone conflict, the fallout from the launch press conference.

All in all, the author delivered a solid story that a reader who is loves a feel-good romance will enjoy. So, judge for yourself and don't forget to leave a review.

Sweetest Taboo...

A love story with realistic drama and a great storyline with no sex? Yes. Give me more. Barry blessed Brooklyn's mind with all 9 inches of his intellect making sure she understood that he could hit all her spiritual spots before hitting anything else. Loved it from beginning to end.

This was a good read.

If you are looking for a contemporary but old fashioned love story.....look no further. I enjoyed the characters chemistry, the back stories, and the spiritual references. I can't wait for the stories of the two best friends. This cover along with the subsequent stories to follow are beautiful. This was a Good read.
