This could have been a pretty good book. Unfortunately, whether by poor editing and/or lack of research, or just undeveloped writing skills, it failed miserably.

"Lucas Jameson owned a 40 acre ranch . . . It produced pretty much all the corn and wheat for the state." The driveway into the ranch was "three miles long." Forty acres is hardly more than a really big back yard - certainly not enough to feed the entire state of Iowa. By most farmers' and ranchers' standards, 40 acres would more likely be considered a farm, not a ranch.

Throughout the book, the author refers to individual horse stalls as stables. A stable contains horse stalls. She DOES, however, finally start correctly calling the 40-acre ranch a farm.

Lucas goes to milk the cows. "I expected at least ten gallons out of them today, ten more by the end of the day." Dairy cows can be milked 2-3 times a day, but each cow can only make 6-8 gallons of milk PER DAY. I have to assume the author didn't do any research on this topic, or didn't read what she wrote. Lucas either had record-breaking cows who gave him ten gallons EACH twice a day, or he had a sorry herd who dribbled out so little they couldn't pay for themselves!!

"Just three months after our marriage day I was graced with a baby." What you then learn is that after being married three months, she found out she was pregnant. She had the baby later! Pay attention!!

It's a shame writers insist on writing stories about which they have limited or no knowledge. If the inaccuracies, typos, and incomplete sentences contained in this book are the result of poor editing, the writer needs to find another. If they are the result of her lack of knowledge, i would hope she invests in more research next time.

Don't miss this

Very good story slightly different take on the cowboy billionaire. A little on the steamy side with the desired happy ending. Both main characters have past concerns to overcome, which they eventually do. Could use a fresh edit but no issues too drastic. Well worth reading. I will be looking for more by this author.

Basic story line good

Basic story line was very good. Was a five star book had it not been for the misspelled words and the repetition of the same lines twice in the same chapter. It was very distracting. I really enjoyed the story. It could have been a five star book had it not been ruined by these things. Very disappointed.

A Lovely Story

A man who practically lives a hermetic life. A newly hired decorator on her first job, on a ranch of all places.
This would have been a four star rating but for the many editing errors that detracted from my enjoyment. That aside, the story was great to follow. A lonely man with some issues that are brought to the forefront early on. It was interesting to see how the love interest deals with it. How he comes around. That the female had issues of her own are also told early on. Their age difference comes into play as well. Overall it was a lovely story.
