Fifteen year old William (Will) Ross was now all alone. His mother had died seven years ago and his father was murdered. Sure he still had the small ranch, but what could a small young boy do all alone?
His favorite horse was Molly girl and she followed him around like a puppy dog. Late one evening, just before dark, he was in town buying supplies. The gun on his hip was almost too heavy for him to hold up straight and aim, but he managed.
A young man was walking down the sidewalk coming toward him. Another man stepped from an alley, gun in hand. At the same instant he fired that gun, a second shot making them sound as one took his life. Will was looking at two dead men, but he had only heard one shot.
Another man wearing dark clothing with gun in hand quickly walked from the darkness taking something from the farthest dead men’s pockets. Before he could get to the next man, people were shouting, asking where the gunfire came from. The man rushed between buildings disappearing out of sight.
Will strained his eyes in the dark of night. “Good Lord! I know that man! That’s Mister…”

MINE AND LAND GRABBERS

Back shooters, land and cattle cheating. This is what was going on in town. Will's father was back shoot by unknown source. His mother was dead and now his father, Will has all the responsibility on his shoulders running his ranch, but he's a very
capable fifteen year old young man. A crooked lawyer named Standish is in cohorts with the banker and sheriff of the town and they are stealing, murdering and Sheriff Hobbs looks the other way...nothing but bribery, bribery. This is what a lot of towns had to put up with bribes paid to the Mayors, Bank owners, Sheriffs and these men usually embezzled the monies from the bank when the town's residents got in touch with U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson who cleans up these and other types of law breaking.
A county Sheriff Garcia has wired for U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson help who will be arriving by train with his horse Dunnie to hear in detail about what debauchery is going on.
Need I say more, action pack with lots of intrigue.
You'll all know thieves think they are smarter than the average bear or let's knock it up a couple notches those who thumbed their nose at any types of law..or those who feel because of their status in society, they are above the law. So they think they'll scare you, murder you or through a crooked judge have you sentenced to prison on fake charges...money, power drive people crazy and their moral and ethics are really questionable..don't you think???
U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson is a law man who doesn't take any chances with his other's lives. Shoot now ask questions later or just keep it moving. He's a man to ride the river with once he's had his coffee and breakfast. He enjoys good food thats prepared properly. We are all followers of U. S. Marshal Shorty Thompson and all the dangerous assignments he goes on. He's usually by himself, but he seems to always get help, and goodness gracious be it a woman or a man, they can take care of business...right??

I have been fortunate enough to read each and every Shorty Thompson book in his series and this one definitely ranks among the very best. I was hooked on this story from beginning to end, as the excitement never diminished throughout the entire story. A very fast and furious story that was definitely impressive with unbelievably outstanding gunfights and romance!

Five stars does not do justice to this five star masterpiece by one of the most prolific writers of our old American western folklore adventures. Mr. Paul Thompson is definitely worthy of any and all accolades available available for his outstanding writing abilities! I have followed practically all of his writings and have found each and everyone of them to be five star worthy. This story of a young man left fatherless at a very young age, but possessed the intestinal fortitude to seek the ones responsible and helped bring them to justice!
Will, Purdy, Marshal Shorty Thompson, Francis, and their associates certainly created havoc among the bad guys and did so with vengeance. If you love a little romance, then the cast takes time to pacify you deepest desires. Mr. Thompson does does his homework, as the storylines and characters will certainly appease your appetite for a heartwarming ride of American folklore adventures!
I, without hesitation, recommend this very compassionate story of the trials and tribulations be falling many families trying to gain a foothold in western travels. If you love gunfights, romance, suspense and American justice then this book is for you. To not read the entire set of Marshal Shorty Thompson is definitely your loss. As I have stated before, this story is definitely worthy of your preference readings.

Will had a ranch that someone wanted bad enough to kill for and his friend, Francis owned a kind that they wanted badly too. Maybe if they can stay alive long enough, they just might find out why.
