Focusing on recent advances as well as updating and expanding the scope of topics covered in the previous edition, the fourth edition of Percutaneous Drugs, Cosmetics, Mechanisms, Methodology includes new chapters on topics currently impacting the field including chemical mixtures, in-vivo and in-vitro absorption correlations, transcutaneous immunization, and hair follicle penetration. It emphasizes drug delivery techniques such as the use of microneedles, nanosomes, liposomes, microemulsions, phonophoresis, and the enhancement of oligonucleotide drug penetration. The Journal of Applied Cosmetology said the first edition was "indispensable."
