Interactions

Rate this book
A short-essay thematic reader, Interactions accommodates both higher-level developmental writing and basic-level composition courses through a diverse set of readings. These selections, written by authors of different ethnic and social backgrounds, lead students from a consideration of the self to how the self interacts with other people and situations. Paired readings appear in each unit—often juxtaposing conflicting viewpoints—to engage students' critical-thinking skills and continue prompting them to find their own voice. By drawing parallels between their lives and the readings, students can clearly understand the reading-writing connection. Students collaborate on Exploring Ideas Together assignments based on topics from the readings, and complete Writing Essays exercises individually in response to the readings. Each unit features at least one student essay to provide realistic models of good writing.
