A very detailed account by Don Ledger to discover what caused the Swissair 111 disaster. There were no survivors to describe what happened. In sixteen heartbreaking minutes, the jetliner lost all navigational aids and only minutes away from Halifax International, the plane turned back toward the ocean. Don Ledger who is a also a pilot, carefully recreates what took place in the cockpit of the doomed airplane. With great detail, from the pilot’s first distress calls to the moment the aircraft hit the ocean, the author describes each link in a disastrous chain of events that led to the crash. There was debris everywhere, many pieces not much larger than an adult hand. The recovery efforts aboard local fishing boats and later the high tech Military search were difficult to read.
