Saved by Marriage: A Pride and Prejudice Variation
Delightful forced marriage scenario between Darcy and Elizabeth. The night of the Meryton Assembly gives us Darcy's dismissive remarks and slight against Elizabeth, and she is vocal against him as well. Elizabeth steps outside the assembly hall, and thinking her youngest sister, Lydia, has escaped with a young man, Elizabeth follows. Darcy has also stepped out to get some fresh air and saves Elizabeth from being run over by a carriage. They are caught "cavorting" in the street by one of the town's busybodies bent on ruining Elizabeth's good name. While Mr. Bennet believes the incident will blow over, the busybody confronts both the Bennets and Netherfield residents at church on Sunday in front of the citizens of Meryton. Darcy offers marriage, Elizabeth refuses, but when her friends cut her, she has to reconsider her options. Swallowing her dislike of Darcy, she walks to Netherfield to speak with him and hopes he renews his offer. Married, they travel to Pemberley and unbeknownst to one another, both have fallen in love, but neither will admit their feelings. Georgiana loves Elizabeth immediately upon meeting her and encourages Darcy to tell Elizabeth that he loves her. Craziness occurs before both admit their love. Enter Lady Catherine. Just what the lovers need in their life. Elizabeth deals with her foolishness until she threatens her family's immediate removal from Longbourn when Mr. Bennet dies. Darcy has finally had enough and kicks his aunt out of Pemberley. After the birth of their son, Fitzwilliam, Elizabeth tries once more to reconcile the two, but Lady Catherine's hateful remarks and behaviour cause Darcy to sever the relationship forever. He decides the chaotic behaviour at Longbourn is far better than the distasteful remarks and hate at Rosings.
It's a interesting start but it incomplete because it just ends. No tying up loose ends or pulling the story together. The story needs embellishments. Once Darcy and Elizabeth are married her entire family disappeared from the story. Not even a letter from Jane. The close friends of Darcy also go poof! We have 3 characters and then Lady Catherine is dumped into the mix. The idea that Elizabeth having a son breaks the entail on Longhorn doesn't make sense either.
