Moseley’s first book of the series is written so vividly and eloquently that it really puts you in the story. Their descriptive writing paints the scene of every location without drawling on for pages. Written in the fantasy genre somewhere between Harry Potter & LOTR, Stolen Secret combines elements of high fantasy into a short palatable read that leaves you excited for the next book. The characters are interesting and the storyline is full of exciting turns, laughs, and tears. A truly amazing book that begins the series with an exciting bang. Highly recommend for those who enjoy fantasy and for new readers in the genre.

A fast paced high fantasy novel, perfect for anyone wanting a quick read to introduce them to a new fantasy realm. I definitely related to the heroes’ struggle, knowing they were sent to save the world but not knowing how or from what, a question I’m sure most people have in their lives as they want to make the world better but don’t know how or where to start. After finishing it I bought two copies to give to family and recommended it to friends! Plus how many new fantasy books get a dnd game podcast soon after release? The podcast adds a whole new level of world building! Look up The Deerly Chosen podcast on youtube!
Pros: interesting magic system, a realistic consideration of where the heroes get their money, and a snooty deer companion
Cons: didn’t realize there was cursing on the back of the paperback and had to hide it from more conservative family members. Be wary reading around children or anyone who doesn’t like swearing.
