An Estranged Husband
David Cayle wants nothing to do with his wife. He may have broken promises, but she kept secrets. Important ones. His only hope to mend his shattered self is to start over in the backcountry far away from her and Cayle Farms. But walking away from her is not as easy as he thought, for she is not done with her secrets, and this one will change his life forever.

A Frightened Mother
Annie Cayle faces an unknown future. Despite her last days at Cayle Farms and the danger she left behind, she is desperate to return home. When David Cayle arrives unexpectedly in Richmond, she asks him to change his plans for the sake of her unborn child. But home is not safe, and neither is David Cayle.

A Child that Binds
With their friendship torn apart, and their marriage shattered beyond repair, David and Annie must forge a new destiny for the sake of their child. But when old enemies exact revenge they are forced to confront past secrets and broken promises.

But can David face his deepest fears to save his wife? Or, in the end, will the past destroy them both?

Binding Fire is the third book in the Children of the Light Series. The Society of Friends (Quakers) and 1750s colonial Virginia, on the cusp of the French and Indian War, provide the backdrop for this sweeping historical about families trying to live their faith in a new land. Fans of series books will enjoy this series of faith, love, and redemption.

About the author

Donna Hechler Porter

Donna has always had stories in her head. When they were not swirling and gnawing, she had her head in a history book - both fiction and non-fiction. Now, she puts her love of old things, including her genealogy, to good use by writing both genealogy books and novels. She also has a book on her journey with hypothyroidism. Her novels have won numerous awards, and several have been nominated for the prestigious Ind'Tale RONE award. She has also written several smallish books, including a book on how to make history come to life for young people and a book on the 1778 Big Siege of Fort Boonesborough.

A graduate of Texas A & M University, Donna shares her love of books and writing with middle school students at a private school. She also owns a small tutoring business for students of all ages. Donna lives northeast of Houston with embarrassingly way too many animals. She dreams of life in a log cabin in the woods, even as she is addicted to antique and thrift shopping. And still, she manages to find time to write.

If you live in southeast Texas and would like Donna to speak at your reading, genealogy, history or other club, please contact her. She is more than likely to say yes! less

I have just read all three of the books in this series. I just could not wait to get to the end and am hoping there might (hint) be a 4th one coming.
If you want to read a good, wholesome, Christian romance with characters who have a lot of hurdles to overcome, then these books are for you.
I was enthralled throughout each book.....holding my breath and hoping and praying that the villains would get their comeuppance.
I am so glad I discovered this author.....She certainly had my attention until the very end of each book.

Loved this series. Could hardly put it down and missed hours of sleep to read.

Can hardly believe this is your first novels. The story flows so clearly. Was fun to read of the rituals of that time.

I have really enjoyed the Children of the Light series. The authors love of history shines through in her writing. David & Annie have been through many trials on their path to find love, and they will battle their own inner self, their faith, and family before they can find that happiness. Many secrets are revealed in this book 3, and David & Annie struggle to sort out what's truly important. If you enjoyed book 1, Keeping Secrets, then I highly recommend Breaking Promises and Binding Fire.
