Are you going through something extremely difficult and painful? Maybe you’ve recently gotten the worst news of your life. What do you do now? You might be experiencing a flood of emotions including shock, disbelief, confusion, anger, and despair. But what if in the midst of your terrible situation, you can find hope, peace, healing, and even joy? Craig Davis survived three bouts of brain cancer, including one bout that was completely inoperable. He went through the heartbreak of trying to explain what was happening to each of his six children. At times, he suffered paralysis, total loss of hearing, and other terrible complications from the disease. But in the midst of it all, he found stability, happiness, and emotional healing. As his soul prospered, he also experienced a miraculous healing from cancer. Today, Craig is spiritually whole and physically healed. He is cancer-free. Whatever difficult situation you might be going through, Craig invites you to share in his story so that out of your pain, you can also find healing, wholeness, comfort, and peace. “Craig Davis’s story, Never Give Up Hope, is an inspiring testimony of how the author and his family dealt with a chilling cancer diagnosis that seemed to keep coming back. His narrative of how it all changed after he visited Bethel Church, in Redding, CA, is both instructive and moving. I found it an engrossing read.” – David Aikman, bestselling author, former news bureau chief for TIME Magazine, and current editor-in-chief of GODSPEED Magazine. “I believe Craig’s story will inspire you as much as it has us — inspire you to never give up no matter what you face and inspire you to find new strength from God during your times of trial and challenge.” - Pastor Rick Hufton, Faith Family Church “Never Give Up Hope is such a powerful read. Craig Davis and his family are brave, showing tremendous hope and faith. Be inspired as you read and may your heart be ignited to want to know God more. Thank you, Craig Davis, for your honesty, your faith, and your courage in sharing your powerful testimony.” - Julia Wilson, ChristianBookaholic.com
The author, Craig Davis, has survived brain cancer not once but three times. This is his story. In exchange for an ARC, I have promised my honest opinion. The writing isn’t stellar, but Davis doesn’t claim to be a writer. And I did read an ARC; that I understand has changed drastically between the ARC and final release. So I’m assuming this has improved and that many of the jumps or parts that left me with questions have been corrected. It is definitely heartfelt and passionate in his belief of God healing him each time. You get a little background on his life, and then Craig Davis steps you through the high and low points of his journey from the initial diagnosis in 2012 to the most recent the summer of 2018. He focuses on God’s fingerprints throughout it all. And I love that. While you’re in the midst of trials, it’s sometimes hard to see Him moving. But hindsight…it shows his handiwork all over the place. I love Davis’s faith and passion. The hope that he wants to pass along to others who are fighting their own battles – whether they be cancer or something else. I enjoyed the Facebook posts that were inserted throughout the text to give an “in the moment” look at what was happening. Definitely a book that’s worth a read. And at just over 100 pages, it’s a quick read at that.

Never Give Up Hope: Waging War With Cancer by Craig Davis – wow what a powerful testimony of a family battling cancer. Craig Davis shows tremendous faith and courage as he puts his life into the hands of God. Craig Davis’ battle built trust and faith in God. As you read this book, may your trust and faith in God grow. Miracles still happen. “Miracles… force us into a decision.” We either choose to believe or we don’t but either way, our choice does not negate the miracle. Craig Davis realises with hindsight, that even when he was not walking with God, God was still preparing the groundwork for later in his life. “God was at work and we did not even realise it.” God will relentlessly pursue us until we make a decision for Him. “I was running from the life Jesus wanted me to live. But God kept after me.” God never gives up on us. The God of the Bible spoke through dreams and He still does so today. Our dreams may foretell future events. When we are going through trials, we need our church family more than ever. When we have no words to pray, others will stand in the gap and lift us up. “Other believers… will have faith during those moments when we have doubts.” We do not journey alone. “Jesus was with us every step of the journey.” The journey through cancer is tough but Craig Davis shows that knowing Jesus means we can receive His peace even when the road is rocky. We can trust that “God always knows… what He’s doing.” Never Give Up Hope is such a powerful read. Craig Davis and his family are brave, showing tremendous hope and faith. “Hope… builds faith through trust.” Be inspired as you read and may your heart be ignited to want to know God more. Thank you Craig Davis for your honesty, your faith and your courage in sharing your powerful testimony. I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
I can't even imagine living through what Craig has, but he tells his story in an open and honest way that lets us in on his battles and victories. God is good and Craig's life is a testimony to that. I hope readers are encouraged and see their relationship with God in a new light.
Davis provides a riveting testimony of living with a terminal disease and finding hope in Jesus. "Never Give Up Hope" is a page-turner even though Davis is not a writer by trade. He is an everyday guy, which is a large part of the book's charm. Davis is the next-door-neighbor who got really sick and encountered God in a miraculous way. He tells you this story like he is sitting across from you in your den. It isn't fancy, but it is real. And it is POWERFUL! Davis’ journey shows that God is actively involved in the details of our lives. His Word can be trusted. And He still heals! God has a plan to save us, but we must lean into God in order to find that plan. Davis shows how those gentle urgings from the Holy Spirit can and must be trusted in order to receive God’s salvation.
This book is a must-read for anyone facing a life-threatening illness and a should-read for anyone learning to live by faith. Two big thumbs up!
I did receive an ARC in exchange for my honest review of this book.
