The Sister
Ever since her older brother passed away, Cara Carson has been paralyzed by grief. Without college, a job, or anything to look forward to, it seems Cara’s summer will last forever. But when she volunteers for a camp that pairs teenagers with underprivileged children, Cara finds herself matched with the energetic and enthusiastic Gabby, who has a secret at home that sends Cara reeling. To help this little girl with such an enormous capacity for love, Cara must open herself to the emotions she’s pushed down for years. She will have to accept her past to pave the way for her future—and for Gabby’s.

I have read many indie books and this book is probably one of the best I have ever read. Erica’s writing made me feel every bit of emotion the characters conveyed. I laughed and cried throughout the whole story and never was bored. The prologue hooked me right away and I had to read it in one day. I was captivated by the well developed characters and their stories. If you are in the mood to feel lots of emotion, this book is a must read. Wonderful insight for dealing with loss of someone or just wanting to have a positive feeling in life. My only recommendation is that this work of art need to be published digitally. If it hadn’t been recommended I would have never read it because it isn’t available in that format as of yet. Kudos to Erica Kelly Tran for this remarkable work and can’t wait to read more books written by her in the future.

What an emotional, heartfelt, and captivating read! I couldn’t put The Sister down once I started reading it. This book tugs at your heartstrings and hits you right in the feelings, but in the best way possible. It stays with you after you finish reading it - I haven’t been able to stop thinking about this book in the hours since I finished reading it. I highly recommend reading it!
