Alone, Hurt and still reeling from walking in on Sefa and Evie in the middle of what she perceives to be the throws of passion, Raelle has placed herself in a state of Isolation from everyone who doesn’t bare the last name, Jackson or Hernandez.
Meanwhile Sefa is pulling out all of the stops just to get more than two words out of her, but the hurt that she harbors not only from what she has witnessed between him and Evie but unbeknownst to Sefa the hurt and effects from her past relationship with Titan is all way too fresh, entirely too strong and possibly just too deep for Sefa to be able to get through.
Beside himself and completely at a loss Sefa forces himself to think outside of the box, barter, plead and damn near beg for every possible source of assistance in his plan to win Ell back, but will it be enough to convince her to talk to him so that he can explain that what she saw in his office was a misunderstanding? Or will a blast from his not so distant past ruin his already fragile and undefined relationship with Ell and extinguish any flicker of hope that he has for winning her back and making her his?
This installment dives straight into the emotional wreckage between Raelle and Sefa, and it doesn’t pull its punches. Raelle’s retreat into solitude feels painfully real, especially with the shadows of Titan still influencing her reactions. Sefa’s desperation to break through her walls gives the story its tension, his efforts are messy, human, and at times heartbreaking. The misunderstanding with Evie spirals into something bigger, and the added threat from Sefa’s past keeps the stakes sharp. It’s a tight, emotionally charged read that balances angst with authenticity, and it left me eager to see whether these two can claw their way back to each other.
Rae was intent on making Sefa work for it, but when they finally talked, I liked that they understood where the other was coming from. Though had she listened that day in the hall, we wouldn't have come to all that, and Titan and Gianna...I still want to choke them. Another satisfying read.
The cliff hanger left me picking up my face off the the floor !! That dang Titan, he's messed with the wrong woman Sefa is gonna tear him a new one. Can't wait for part 3!
The only part I didn’t like was the pool party when Rae had the conversation with Evie and Delilah. One, all of that shouldn’t have taken place because Iosefa should have shut that down as soon as they stepped onto the property. They were Iosefa’s problems, not Rae’s.
This cliffhanger got me about to have a heart attack
Lord this series keeps getting better and better can’t wait to see what happens and who Sefa gonna make suffer I hope Titan finally gets dropped on his head permanently
I stumbled upon this series and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I need her raggedy family members to get the business!!
