On Earth, humans are at the top of the evolutionary ladder. What if something came and took you away from that? What if your whole life was taken away from you? And now you were the helpless animal. Eight people living their everyday lives are taken away and put in captivity in an intergalactic zoo. It's not their world. They have no control over their lives and are subjected to humiliating visits by an Alien race. The eight people aren't the top of evolution in the zoo. And something is inside with them that isn't supposed to be.... And it's hunting them.

Alien abduction stories really aren't my go-to genre of book but this was a solid read.
I think the front half of the book has a little bit of pacing issue. There's a lot repeated information since there are eight perspectives and I think the pacing would have been improved by cutting that number down. The pacing feels a lot better in the later half of the book as it focuses more on the primary protagonist.
Travis and Katie are adorable and my personal favorite characters. The exploration of the aliens is interesting and I'll be picking up the sequel at some point.
I normally don't read alien sci-fi books, but I purchased this one because it was written by a local Quad Cities author. I found the story, and characters, easy to follow and well worth the read.
