32 pgs. This book features great gymnasts from the USA and more. The book is divided into sections about history, essential equipment, rules of the sport, strategies to succeed, and ready to begin. It features both men's and women's gymnastic events. However, the photos seemed small to illustrate the various apparatus and events. The strategies to succeed section was helpful and seemed like they would work well. I think the last section would be helpful for kids who are considering entering the gymnastic sport. It gives them lots of things to think about before committing to this sport, including the money required. This book covers a lot but I think another book would be more helpful if it focused more on men's or women's competition and showed better photos of the apparatus and more specific information about the events. It also seemed to end abruptly without some sort of encouragement or feeling of completion. I think for a general book on gymnastics it would be fine, but interested readers will need to look elsewhere for more in-depth information. Recommended for Grades 4-5.
