Sex, secrets, and murder cast a shadow over my family that we couldn’t escape. When my life started falling to pieces, the only one in the world I could turn to was my step sister. We’ve shared a connection ever since we were little. But we’re not little anymore...Our connection morphed into something that could only be experienced in secret once everyone was asleep. It turned into something with teeth and nails threatening to rip our family apart from the inside out.Our forbidden desire nearly blinded us to the real darkness trying to rip us apart from the outside. Something sinister determined to claw its way in.Something we were determined to keep out.

I don't understand why they want to keep it a secret. If you are not blood-related, why is it a taboo? That's something I don't understand. Some people may find it inappropriate but love between step-siblings can't be regarded as taboo in my opinion.
The blurb says, "Our connection morphed into something that could only be experienced in secret once everyone was asleep."
I would read it if they were not trying to keep it a secret forever. That feeling of shame would infuriate me.
You should always defend your feelings if they are real. And the ones who don't like it can get the hell out of your life...
I really wanted to like this, but it didn’t work out. The dialogue was often over dramatic and cringe, and the sex scenes-save one- weren’t for me to the point that I hard skimmed/basically skipped at least one. I also didn’t love the h, Sammie, and found it laughable that her basic af ideas hadn’t been considered by her dad who was supposedly smart enough to have been in the game unscathed for decades and were treated like she was a criminal genius. Santana as the H was likable and gave me the occasional good chuckle, but he wasn’t particularly memorable. Oh and I literally LOLed and rolled my eyes so hard at the villain, his big speech, and outcome that they may have gotten momentarily stuck😆 I didn’t *hate* it though.

I wanted to DNF so bad and ultimately didn't do it because I don't like to leave books unfinished. For it being 316 kindle pages it was just filled with steamy scenes, barely any plot for the amount of pages that it has and ultimately I found the whole situation ridiculous and improbable.
You are honestly telling me that when you get into a relationship with someone that everybody thought was your blood brother (he is adopted) they are not batting an eye to it? Just like "yay, awesome. How's the sex?"; that you are not going to sit down and have like an open heart conversation of "I saw you grow since you were a child and now I want to throw you onto my bed and pound into you until the sun comes out"? Cool. Didn't like Samira, Santana was okay but his whole macho persona was tiring at times, Pop with his whole mentality of "my little princess" deserved a slap on the face and he was really soft to be a kingpin and the villain was laughable at best.

While this is not a book I consider taboo (if it doesn’t have incest it isn’t taboo) it is definitely a dark forbidden romance completely worth the read.
Danielle James came thru once again! I posted on my stories a part of this book where Santana tells Sam to take his Dick not to run… ugh I couldn’t get enough of the spice in this book. That’s not to down play the connection, and plot. I fell head over heels in love with both of these characters. Their connection is pure, they fight for each other and their love against everyone who stands in their way. Santana is super alpha male and protective over Sam and her the same with him.
Please read trigger warnings. While this book isn’t super dark Theron dark elements and a forbidden relationship.
a perfect dark, deep, raw and sexy story about santana, chris, samira and more.
as i started going deep into the book, i started to realise it wasn't as light i thought it would be but it's dark. (light for me, but dark for beginners)
and i live the dark. i live for the smut in this, love; in this, curiosity and raw pleasure and reality.
fast read (for me personally) and unputdownable for sure.
definitely recommend if you're ready to give your soul away to the world of sammie and santana ☠️
to round it off, i think, as my first (light) taboo novel this will have to be a 5 star read.
check tws and please do not shame authors or readers.
this book is a little dark and twisted & involves a romance between step-sibling’s who were raised as blood siblings, but I LOVED EVERY SECOND!
santana sounded hot as sin & the things he did, HOLY HECK! *drooling*
& samira was badass, beautiful, and strong. she kept the darkness hidden well, but definitely wasn’t one to mess with. she wasn’t afraid to go toe to toe with you. even if you were the kingpin and involved in the drug world.
this book had me in a chokehold and now i need to own the physical copy! hehe
i also really need the second book to come out so i can see marco and kasey’s relationship.
Miss James, you are the Queen of dark and taboo! I'm so here for it! The love that blossomed between these two seemed odd at first, with them growing up together. Then you are that they both have the dark elements to their personalities, and had always been right there for each other; it works. Upset they didn't get Dom's snake a$$, before he got to pop; but he got it in the end. Love your work!
Santana and Samira grew up as siblings and best friends. When Santana returns from dropping out of college and notices his sister has grown up his jealousy spikes in ways it shouldn’t. This was an ok read, great if you want a JP hero with a hint of taboo (not true taboo, but everyone knows them as siblings). There’s no angst between the couple which can be refreshing, mild violence towards secondary characters.
Loved this book! It flowed from beginning to end, and it’s HEA. I gotta say it’s not as taboo as I thought but I didn’t mind lol There wasn’t a huge amount of drama, which I much appreciated. Sam and Santana are one of the rare book couples that too everything in stride, what a breath of fresh air. This is a Recommended Read!
This book was full of darkness and taboo. I loved every bit of it. The desire, ecstasy and and amazing sex oozed off the page. This has been one of the best books I’ve read by this author and that’s saying a lot because I love her books. This is definitely a must read. I can’t wait to read more about Marco.
A very good story with a lot and I mean a lot of sex between Sam and her stepbrother. The characters were okay but I just needed a bit more from Dom. Loved Marco, the dad and the other girls from school except Erin.
