Competition for prayers and tithes has pushed ministers to provide more answers about the great beyond. Fact turns into faith, and people now seek answers at this fringe of what we know. With it comes cult accusations. Love Life to Death is about such a cult, commonly referred to as The Order. The central thesis, known as The One Law, promises a lofty ideal―to unite all faith and science as one. Not only do they offer pleasant congregations and strong coffee, but should you be curious, they can also predict your death to the day.
The story begins with: "How long do I have to live?" Followed by an impulsive call from father to son.
Vicar (Vic) is transferred to Soyfield - although he would have preferred Chicago. This, to assist Bernard to spread the word about The Order. This practice proclaims the "wisdom of the One Law."
Fellow Order clergy Bernard is joined by Vic. The police do not like them, and that becomes quite obvious.
Vic falls in love with Blanche (totally prohibited by The Order). After 20 years of service, Vic knows he has to make an important decision...
The story was good but a bit confusing. I think with less rhetoric I would have enjoyed this read more.
Many Thanks to Common Deer Press and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC.
