Okay, I need to start this review my stating an obvious bias. My dad wrote it. I’ve been raised hearing the contents explained to me. I saw the behind the scenes of the writing process and discussed many of the truths in the book before, during, and after the writing of it.

That being said, it is incredibly well-written, easy to understand, but not dumbed down, and clearly fulfills it’s purpose. Not to win arguments against Arminians, but to show that Calvinism or the Reformed tradition, shouldn’t ultimately take it’s name or authority on any “Calvinists” like Augustine or Calvin himself, but on the Bible. It fairly approaches the opposing view points, quotes broad statements of faith and well respected authors from all perspectives. But it finally finds its authority from the word of God.

It tackles all kinds of doctrine, some may seem unnecessary, but when explained shows the differences between Calvinism and its counterparts are hugely significant. From the balance between God’s sovereignty and human free will, to assurance of salvation, these questions matter. And I truly believe that this book shows that Calvinism is simply how the Gospel should be interpreted. I highly recommend it!

A very helpful book on Calvinism that answered many questions I had, and some I didn't know I had. Wright was also well able to teach the faults in the beliefs of Arminianism and Hyper-calvinism.

This is a great treatment by one of my former professors. Dr. Wright does a good job sticking to the main issues and he winsomly presents an attractive view of the doctrines of grace. I plan to give this book to believers who struggle with Calvinism or have questions about it.
