So yes indeed, Kelli M. Brucken certainly does with her 2006 picture book Mysterious Encounters - Ghosts present and describe an extensive enough but in my humble opinion also a bit too annoyingly USA centric amount of “non fiction” information on encountered and experienced ghosts (both human and a few animal spirits) and also of course (and naturally) regarding the question of whether ghosts actually exist or do not exist (with happily and appreciatively, no specific answer to this being given by Brucken).

However, while with regard to Kelli M. Brucken’s featured contents and themes, Mysterious Encounters - Ghosts should therefore be engaging, enlightening and as such also enjoyable for interested readers (from about the age of eight or so onwards in my opinion), sorry, but writing style and narration wise, Brucken’s featured text for Mysterious Encounters - Ghosts, it does truly and in my humble opinion read majorly and utterly annoyingly and unengagingly, it reads really and massively tediously, not only never once capturing any type of and sense for eeriness or uncanniness whatsoever (and which for and to me really should be an absolute must for ghost stories, including when describing haunted encounters reputed to be true), but yes, even how the tales are presented in their bare bones form just seems awkward and dragging, and definitely not at all a reading pleasure by any stretch of the imagination (with me truly just wanting the ghost stories being described in Mysterious Encounters - Ghosts to be over and done with, not feeling all that enlightened and certainly never even remotely entertained by Kelli M. Brucken’s writing, and most definitely totally, absolutely being massively bored and hugely frustrated, as aside from not really considering the featured and depicted stories of Mysterious Encounters - Ghosts at all pleasurable reading material, I also have found the vast majority of the accompanying visuals for Mysterious Encounters - Ghosts majorly aesthetically ugly and in all ways really artistically uninspired and as such rather hugely and mind-numbingly stagnant).

And well, the only reason I am in fact not considering just one star for Mysterious Encounters - Ghosts is that I do like that Kelli M. Brucken has included a detailed bibliography listing both book and online sources (but that no, this also is in no way enough for me to consider more than two stars for Mysterious Encounters - Ghosts, as I really have not at all found Kelli M. Brucken’s text stylistically acceptable, I have truly found the author’s printed words tedious, not engaging and not even remotely creepy or ghostly).

I came across a copy of this children's book, and thoroughly enjoyed reading about ghosts. From stories about ghostly encounters to facts about what might cause people to think they see ghosts, this book shares all sorts of spooky information for kids.

The pages are brightly colored with lots of full-color photos and illustrations. Many pages have brightly colored boxes that contain facts or information about ghosts. In the back is a glossary, index and list of books for further reading. This book could definitely be used in a classroom setting as supplemental reading, enticement for reluctant readers to enjoy something different, or as a Fall/Halloween writing prompt for students to write their own ghost stories.

I read all things ghostly or spooky in the Fall gearing up for Halloween. Glad I found a copy of this book -- thoroughly enjoyed it (even though I am a hard skeptic I still love a good ghost story!)

I used to gobble these kinds of books up when I was a kid, and this one would have bored me even back then. It was so boring that I don't actually remember a lot about it, I just remember rolling my eyes a lot and thinking the book was pretty bad.
