About the author

William Burton (1863-1941) was a chemist with Wedgewood from 1887 until 1891. He was a partner and manager of the Pilkingon Tile and Pottery Company (Manchester, UK) from 1891, and was Chairman of the Joint Committee of Pottery Manufacturers of Great Britain.
