About the author

Bruce Wilkinson is recognized as one of the world's foremost Christian teachers and speakers. But he is best known as the author of the New York Times #1 bestseller, The Prayer of Jabez, and other bestsellers including A Life God Rewards, Secrets of the Vine, and The Dream Giver. He is the founder of WorldTeach, a global initiative to train Bible teachers in every nation. Wilkinson also founded Dream for Africa, a humanitarian agency that has taken on AIDS, orphan care and hunger in sub-Saharan Africa. Bruce and his wife, Darlene, have three children and six grandchildren. They live outside Atlanta.

Why is growing spiritually so important to a marriage relationship? Growing spiritually as a couple provides you with the foundation you need to maximize the full experience of your relationship Much of the conflict that couples face stems from a lack of spiritual and/or emotional maturity. But growing spiritually as a couple doesn't happen just because you are saved, or even because you attend church or a small group. Growing spiritually results from ongoing exposure to, study of, and application of God's word. It also results from a continual abiding Christ himself.

Marriage is a tool in God's tool box to grow us up in his likeness. We learn forgiveness, grace and humility in a marriage. However, you have two people that come together than can be selfish, unkind and ungrateful in a marriage setting.

This text is not only a tool for our marriages but also a guide to pray over your marriage Each chapter starts with scripture and goes on to preparing our hearts to become more like Christ. Each chapter also goes into praising God that we may be reminded of who he is in our marriage. The text moves into presenting the situation. A time to think of what was read and how your heart is pulled. The chapter then ends on prayer to keep the focus on your part of the marriage and your response. Our response is how we love and connect with God the Father and our spouse.

I do think this is a good marriage tool to identify problems in our spiritual relationship with God and your spouse. There is no perfect marriage but it is in the imperfection that beauty comes to light.

what i liked
I really enjoyed this book. It featured prayers that I read out loud over my marriage. I read them with my husband and without him but always enjoying the prayers that were included.
The writing was well done, and there’s nothing in the book that I didn’t agree with. The prayers were well thought out and powerful!
I got this book as an e-book and I would be really interested in getting a paper copy- it’s definitely the type of book that you could make your way through and then just start it over again.

what i didn't like
This isn’t exactly a negative, but I was expecting an entire book of prayers. Similar to A Diary of Private Prayer – that I read every day. This book does feature prayers, but is not entirely prayers. Each day has an excerpt to read with a story, or a verse, or a teaching- which is followed by a prayer. Because I was expecting entirely prayers, I was a little disappointed about that but it’s not really a negative.

"Prayers of blessing over my Marriage," is a very great motivational book. I read this book and it actually opened my eyes to thinks I could be doing wrong in my own marriage. It doesn't matter if your always wrong or right. It doesn't matter how much money you have. The only thing that matters is your love for each other.

I have fairly enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it to friends & family or anybody who wants to fix their marriage or improve their marriage. I am actually planning to get a copy for myself. Not because my Marriage is in trouble or my Marriage is bad, but because I want me and my wife to know true stability.

Any husband or wife desiring to pray over their marriage will find this book extremely helpful. Divided into 20 prayer subjects that include short devotionals and prayer prompts, the authors offer a simple model of prayer they draw from 2 Chronicles 20:6-12: Praising God, Presenting the Situation, Prayer for Blessing and Freedom.
The authors offer prayer prompts on relevant topics like spiritual growth, peace, sexual intimacy, mutual service, emotional support, finances, conflict, communication, and fault-finding. While very helpful, I personally appreciated the extra section at the end, "Scriptures for Prayer and Meditation Related to Marriage," so that I can take the pattern learned in the first part and pray any scripture for my marriage. This is a great reference book that readers will refer back to over and over as they deepen their prayer lives and pray over their marriages.

Read this as a single person without actively saying the prayers.

Just read the key topics to get a fair idea of topics in marital relationships.

Quite interesting, it takes a positive approach to marriage.

Key takeout - Good marriages do exist and you can make one by trusting in God to take you and your spouse to your desired destination. Work is required.

This is a wonderful book, that would be helpful not just for an individual reader, but also for a couple to read together. The authors use a practical, kind tone, but don't avoid tough marital issues. The book is broken into topics that are applicable to every marriage, and is divided up in such a way that the book can be used as a reference when an issue comes up. The reader can simply flip to that issue quickly, and read the information in that short section. The material is practical, applicable, compassionate, and truly realistic. I have enjoyed this book immensely, and have benefited from the great advice and encouragement it holds. It would be a wonderful wedding gift for newly married couples, but also a great resource for people like myself, who have been married for many years. Highly recommended!

This is such a wonderful little devotional book. I have been married 30 years, and still, this book was a blessing to me. This book is designed to help you improve and bless your marriage. You can read and apply each section with your spouse or read the book alone.
I really love this book, its attention to spiritual detail, how God feels about marriage. The authors even included an entire section at the end of the book dedicated to an array of Bible verses regarding marriage and praying for your message.
This book would make a great gift to newlyweds, engaged couples and even those who have been married for a while. I so highly recommend this book.

This is not your average marriage prayer book. I love everything about this book, but most especially its approach to its daily focuses. I found that the authors' perspective was shifting for me personally and their skill in communicating their perspective is exemplary. This book is very easy to read and I recommend it.

"Prayers of Blessings over My Marriage" by Bruce Wilkinson is nonfiction and practical for every day living for a marriage. The book covers very relevant topics in each chapter. It addresses these topics: Christ, Spiritual growth, sexual intimacy, fault finding, blessing, emotional support, peace , attraction, influence, focus, attentiveness, favor. It is a practical and helpful book. It will help any marriage. It is rich with wisdom and practical advice. The reader can use this book over and over for their marriage and other marriages as well. This book would be very helpful in a counseling situation for pastors and others doing lay counseling. It is a good book to recommend to friends. I really believe this book will strengthen and build up any marriage. Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read and review this excellent book. I enjoyed this title and used it as a daily devotional. I appreciated the layout of the text and thought each of the 20 prayer subjects addresses some of the most foundational aspects of marriage that should be placed at the center of our prayer life. I enjoyed the additional scripture for prayer and meditation in the back of the book, but would have liked to see some additional discussion and reflection questions following each of the 20 prayer subjects that couples could use during their devotion and time together.
