Who would’ve pegged the hot guy as a fairy godmother?

He’s the antithesis of the standard Disney version—
Broody.
Sexy.
And my best friend’s new brother-in-law.
Now he’s whisking me away on an epic road trip,
turning a fantasy into reality.
On the surface, it seems like a terrible idea—
I mean, I’ve sworn off men,
And I’m trying to rehab my undeserved reputation as a flirt.
A maneater.
A slut.
But how can I say no to a guy
who only wants to make a simple wish come true?
Then there’s a snowstorm.
A night alone in one hotel room.
Undeniable chemistry.
Suddenly a road-trip fling sounds like another wish he can grant.
Simple.
No strings.
And a loophole in my no men rule.
There’s a finite end date and no way for feelings to get involved.
Right?

I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.

From the moment I read Jerica MacMillan's book Summer Fling, I have fallen hard for her writing. I didn't think I could fall anymore until I began reading about her hot musical geniuses in her Songs and Sonatas series on their road to fame and love and I was left waiting for their next duet full of angst, crescendos, and unparalleled ecstasy. She is kept my heart and libido in overdrive with these amazing characters who are wrapped up in pursuing their musical careers whether it be through classical music or pop, little do these heroes and heroines know that they will find love along the way. Jerica sets her readers on another journey with a couple that will have our hearts skating around more than the Rockefeller center and will leave us panting and waiting to see where they will take us in the next book.

I was so over the moon excited when I found out that Jerica was going to finally let us dive more deeply into Lauren who has amazed and intrigued me through many other books in the series and find out more about her. She kept me laughing and wondering what made her tick and what would come out of her mouth next. She always kept me on my toes, as just a side character in the stories and I couldn't wait to see her make her debut and star as the awesome heroine that she is. Can you tell that I am just a little bit smitten with Lauren? Is it that evident? After getting know her better, I am still just as in love with her and am anxious to experience more of the heat between her and Brendan.

Since Jerica has begin introducing the gorgeous, scrumptious Brasher brothers, they have been starring in my boy band fantasies and I am always ready and willing to meet another of the Brasher boys up close and personal. So when I knew that Lauren was going to get all twisted up in the sheets with Brendan Basher, I had the popcorn and cold beverage ready because I knew things were going to get hot and interesting fast! Having met ALL of Jerica's heroes, I would have to say that Brendan is one of her dirtiest talking book boyfriends yet. He knows how to romance a girl with his whimsical trip to make her dreams come true, charm her, and keep her hot and bothered. What more could Lauren or a reader ask for?

Jerica MacMillan delivers a scorching tale of love found on a spontaneous road trip that leads to so much more than what these two characters bargained for. I highly recommend Overtones for a romance that will leave you breathless and wanting more and more. Of course Jerica has to leave our hearts hanging on a precipice waiting for this couple to come together again in her upcoming book Reverb and consume us with their passion and make us fall just a little bit harder for their brand of steam and love.

4.7 Musical Stars

Sometimes you find an author that stands out from the rest. An author that can make her words become the musical notes that touch your soul and resonate within. That is most definitely this author. I have been along on this ride since the very first book of this series and I can say this is one ride that I never want to end. She creates characters that come alive on the pages. So much so that I find myself living vicariously through their encounters that it feels as if I am truly there. I experience their hesitations, their fears, their heartbreak as if it was happening to me. In the same breath, I feel their joy, their happiness, and their exhilaration as they see life with hope and through eyes that see the world as if it was in technicolor.

This was true with this story. I loved Lauren, who showed that there was something more to her than just being the flirty happy friend of Gabby and Charlie. I loved that Brendan saw her, the real her. I loved watching them fall for each other. I cannot wait to see the conclusion to their story. I know that it will be poignant and perfect because this author doesn't know how to write anything less.

You really get to know people when you travel with them especially car trips. Lauren and Branden start as a favor to get a guy to leave her alone and become one of my favorite couples.

They were so much fun to ride with. A trip quite different than either expected - full of great banter, characters who feel like they are your best friend's and enough steam to power a steam train cross country.

But what happened when both secretly want more than just sex? Can they let it go or will they find a way to open up truly to each other? Only one way to find out....

I received an ARC for an honest and voluntarily review.

The banter between Braeden and Lauren was off the charts. I would be laughing so hard one second and swooning the next. They decide to up and travel across the country together, while this would be a horrible idea for most because let’s face it road trips are a great way to either become close to someone or want toss them out of the car, and they only knew each other in passing it seemed like a crazy idea. This ended up being a great idea for them because they did have a connection and chemistry that ended up being scorching hot. I loved that we got both Braeden and Lauren’s point of view because it showed us how deep their connection really was even though they both tried to fight it like crazy. This is book one of their story but book two comes out soon and I can not wait to see what happens because these two have become a favorite of mine.

Loved this Book.
This is part One of a duet, I have been eagerly waiting these books, excited for Lauren's story to play out. The Sassy friend of Gabby in the Songs and Sonatas series.
This first installment was everything I could have hoped for, where at Gabby's wedding Lauren agrees to go on a road trip with Brendan, the drummer from the band Brash and Gabby's new husband Jonathan's brother. Whilst chatting and flirting Lauren reveals one of her dreams is to go ice skating in New York.. The next day they are on the road and taking an adventure into the unknown. Where they discover more than they bargained for, a friendship and a electrifying attraction to one another. So an agreement is set for a road trip fling, no strings sex and when the journey is over so is their fling... Easier said than done.. When both feel like it is more than a passing fling but are too stubborn to admit it.
I absolutely adored this book, Jerica takes you onto a very passionate journey with Lauren and Brendan, a sexy, sweet and Romantic trip that had my heart laughing and at times breaking to, as we see a vulnerable side to Lauren who has always had a reputation as a Maneater, she always appeared so tough. But actually is quite the opposite. Brendan and Lauren start to break down eachothers walls, but quickly put them back up again when the trip ends. They frustrated the hell out of me.
I cannot wait now for book two, I am so excited to know how the rest of this story will unfold, Brendan and Lauren are great characters and I want nothing more than for them to have their HEA.
Excellent writing yet again from Jerica Macmillan, I highly recommend this book and this series.

5+ Stars for Lauren and Brendan!
I am a huge fan of Jerica MacMillan’s work and each new release makes me love her work more BUT Overtones just blew me away completely! I have been (im)patiently waiting for Lauren’s story since we met her in Gabby’s story and, let me tell you, it is worth the wait!
Lauren is sassy, she’s feisty and she comes across as being confident and very friendly. She is also hilarious and you just can’t help but love her!! When Lauren tells Brendan that she has always wanted to ice skate at Rockefeller Center at Christmas time, the last thing she expects the quietest Brasher brother to suggest, is a road trip to do just that! Brendan is hot but he’s barely said two words to her so she really is surprised and yet, finds herself agreeing.
Being stuck in the car for hours on end leads to an acute build up of chemistry and sexual tension that culminates in some hot and sexy times between them. Unfortunately, Lauren still has one more year of study at Marycliffe and Brendan has an internship in LA so, realistically, a relationship between them would be very difficult to maintain and so the agree to just enjoy the here and now before they go their separate ways ... but that is so much easier said than done!
I cannot wait for the next book - the conclusion to Lauren and Brendan’s story.
I am so grateful to the author for providing us with stories that allow the reader to get totally enmeshed in the characters and their lives, so that by the end you feel like they’re a close friend and you’re completely invested in how their story ends.
I highly recommend this book!

Honestly this series just keeps getting better and better. This series has me so captivated that right now I am counting the days until we get to see what happens next between Brendan and Lauren. I started this book last night when I went to bed. Around 11 or so I had to stop reading because the words were starting to blur together. So reluctantly I set my iPad aside and went to sleep. This morning bright and early I wake up grabbed my iPad and refused to get out of bed until I finished this book. What a book it was. This book was about Brendan and Lauren. Brendan was hot and super sweet. Lauren was sweet and very cautious. This book took us a journey with these two people who new each other but other then that they were strangers. As they drove from California to New York they talked and they got to know each other both inside and out. They let their guards down and they let each other in. They had an agreement. A no strings fling which would end at the end of this trip. What happens when feelings become involved? This book was so hot and so sweet and romantic at the same time. I cannot wait to see what happens next. With these two you just never know. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

I love this series and we finally get Lauren's story and find out more about Brendan (Jonathan's brother). Lauren appears to be a happy, flirty person and that is all that people see. However, she is more complex and we get to find out who the true Lauren is beside being the best friend and confidant for Gabby and Charlie. Lauren and Brendan out of the blue and Jonathan and Gabby's wedding that they were going on a road trip to NYC so that Lauren can ice skate at Rockfeller Center! The road trip brings out who these 2 people really are and we get to watch them find out who each other are and watch them figure out how to handle the chemistry between them. Lauren and Brendan fall for each other but had already agree that this trip was a one time thing and they could be friends with benefits until their trip is over. Obviously things change along the way but they can't figure out what to do, especially since they live in separate states and are at different points in their lives. I can't wait for the next book to find out what happens with these 2 people and if they can figure what they truly want in life and take the chance to go after it.

I just went cross country and loved every minute in the car with Brendan and Lauren. Overtones was funny, sweet, with great banter, misunderstandings and great sexual tension. It all starts when Lauren needs help from a drunk guy at her friend's wedding trying to get her to his room. As her and Brendan, her lifesaver and friend's new brother-in-law continue to talk she mentions her secret desire to go skating in Rockefeller Center. Next thing he suggests is a road trip to make it happen. Lauren is funny, outgoing and you never know what she will say next. I have loved her all along as Gabby's friend and couldn't wait for her story. This can be read as a standalone if you haven't read the others but why??? Brendan is quiet but once he starts talking let the dirt flow. He also shows her he's a gentleman with how he treats Lauren on their trip. The chemistry throughout the road trip had me turning pages. I could not get enough of these two and can't wait for the next book. All I can say is this series just keeps surprising me with each book - I can't pick a favorite.

I’ve always enjoyed Lauren, a key supporting character in prior installments of Jerica MacMillan’s Songs and Sonatas series. I always figured that she had to have s backstory that explained her personality and that made her complex and interesting. Well, now, in Overtones (Book 6), Lauren finally gets her turn. Her romance with Brendan (who has also appeared previously) is a really well told story that’s both layered and fun. Frankly, my only criticism of this book is that it’s the first in a two part story arc. I really hate waiting for a story that I’ve invested so much in to continue. Other than that, and but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to Reverb, the next book in this series (and conclusion of this particular duet), which is scheduled to be coming on March 25.

Brendan and Lauren's book was better than I could have ever imagined. How their story starts off was genius. A road trip… not only do they get to know each other better but we get to also know them too.

Although having said that I wanted to clip Brendan round the ear at the start. The fact that he stereotyped Lauren annoyed me. I felt like she had to try and act a certain way and not look like a flirt. I loved reading about Lauren in the other Songs and Sonatas books. She was always there for either Maddie or Charlie, she never judged them or treated them any different but Brendan wouldn’t know that and I’m glad she proved him wrong.

I loved every minute of their road trip, these two (I hope) were made for each other. Their banter was great, chemistry was off the charts and it’s exciting to finally read their story.

This book ends on a cliff-hanger but don’t let that put you off. It’s an amazing read and I’m here waiting patiently for the next installment, thank god its soon!

Overtones is book six in the Songs and Sonatas series. You don't have to have read the previous ones to enjoy this one but keep in mind that this one in the first in a two part story arc. I loved loved this one. Brendan is a super sweet guy. He is definitely swoon worthy. He meets Lauren at his brother's weeding. His brother married Lauren's best friend. Lauren is a down to earth girl. She lets it slip that she always wanted to go ice skating at Rockefeller Center and next things we know her and Brendan are on a cross county trip in to go ice skating at Rockefeller Center. OMG these two are great, I totally loved them. On the way to Rockefeller Center they talk about stopping in Vegas on the way back and I was so hoping that they would get married in Vegas on the way back. I so want these two together that when it ended I was a little disappointed but I'm still full of hope for these two. I can't wait to read the next one.

Brendan and Lauren meet at Brendan’s brother’s wedding to Lauren’s best friend. The next day Brendan takes Lauren on a cross country road trip so that she can realize her dream of skating at a Rockefeller Centre, and as Brendan has nothing else to do until his internship starts after the Christmas holidays. They can’t deny the attraction between them, so they agree to have a fling till the trip is over and then they will go on their separate ways, agreeing to not contact each other.

This is a steamy romance and I could just feel the electricity between Brendan and Lauren. I loved Lauren in the previous books and couldn’t wait for her story. She’s just to sassy! And Brendan ... who wouldn’t fall in love with the quiet brooding hunk! I can’t wait for their story to continue in the next book.

Overtones
By Jerica MacMillan
Main Characters: Lauren and Brendan
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author.
5 out of 5 stars
This is part 1 of a 2 book series. Next is Reverb. Love Lauren and her no filter mouth. And Brendan is the drummer in the band Brash. They talk and flirt at their friends wedding and the next thing you know the two of them are on a road trip to New York. They both agree to a no strings fling, but you know how those agreements can turn out. There is plenty of sex, chemistry and emotions throughout. Love Jerica's writing. The only thing that would have made it better was if I knew more about music. Highly recommend.

Brendan is a drummer, one of the Basher boys. He's been burnt by women who wanted him for his fame and the story.
At his brother's wedding, he is paired with Lauren as a bridesmaid. She asks him to pretend to be with him to brush off unwanted attention. He thinks she flirts too much.

Lauren is protective of her heart. But when Brendan finds out she hasn't been to Rockerfeller center, its a fling and a trip to New York but with clear parameters and no contact once their trip is over.

They have fun, steam and a touch of angst due to the changing wants of their arrangement.
Can a relationship grow in such a short time?
Because the clock is ticking....
Ends in a cliffhanger five months later.
Recommend.

When Lauren needs to get rid of a guy at her best friend Gabby's wedding party, she didn't expect Brendan, the fiancé's brother, to become her fairy godmother.
Despite the misunderstandings at the beginning, when Brendan offered to take Lauren to NY to ice skate at the Rockfekller Center, he didn't expect the attraction and feelings that come along the way.
Their road trip is full of chemistry and they get to know each other deeply, but when Lauren's trip needs to be stopped and they need to say goodbye before planned, how will be the feelings that have come between them?
I loved the story and the ending made me anxious for the next book.
I highly recommend the reading.

I loved this book so much! I loved Lauren from Jonathan and Gabby’s stories and I was so happy she got her own book! I love how all of Jerica’s books in this world interconnect, mostly the Songs and Sonatas with Cataclysm, but we only have these guys because of the Players of Marycliff in the first place!

I loved seeing all the various characters at Jonathan and Gabby’s wedding, what a great story arc! I loved the cliffhanger at the end of Counterpoint and Harmony, although I was hoping that would be settled in Overtones, guess I have to wait for March 25 to find out what happens! it can’t come soon enough!!!!

A fantastic, captivating story filled with heartache, flirtatious banter, wit, and insta-love. Brenden is a playboy, musician who irritates and is irritated by Lauren. Lauren is on a break from guys due to past heartache. Overtones is a witty story about two people with an instant connection as well as heartache due to choosing different life dreams and not feeling a long distance relationship can work. Jerica MacMillan creates great stories with so much heart, emotion, and finding what's really important to these characters. Wonderful characters readers will fall in love with. I can't wait to read what's in store next for Brenden and Lauren.

I loved the journey that Lauren and Brendan go on and include us. This couple is spontaneous and adventurous. The writing and flow were perfect. The scenery had me feeling like I was in the car with these two. Let me back up. Brendan is the brother of Jonathan who we met in Double Exposition. He’s not looking for love and is happy with his life. However, he is intrigued by one of the bridesmaids at his brother’s wedding. After saving her and suggesting an offer he doesn’t expect her to jump on, their journey begins. I loved Overtones because we get to know this couple and fall in love with them.

This is Lauren’s story as we’ve seen her with friends Gabby and Charlie is previous books. To everyone she’s a flirty happy girl but she keeps her feelings inside. This is her last year at school and doesn’t want to date as she wants to figure out what she’s got do with her life after graduation. Then Brendan comes along and take her on a road trip. As they spend time together she starts falling for him and he starts seeing the real her that she keeps hidden. Will they see where things go between them?
