Audrey Harrison

Audrey Harrison was born about two hundred years too late. She wants to belong to a time when men were men and women were dressed in gowns and could float, simper and sigh.

In the real world she has always longed to write, writing a full manuscript when she was fourteen years old. Work, marriage and children got in the way as they do and it was only when an event at work landed her in hospital that she decided to take stock. One Voluntary Redundancy later, she found that the words and characters came to the forefront and the writing began in earnest.

Her ideal would be to write Regency Romances, but more modern characters are insisting on being heard, hence the release of’ ‘A Very Modern Lord’, a contemporary romance.

So, although at home more these days, the housework is still neglected and tea is still late on the table, but she has an understanding family, who usually shake their heads at her and sigh. That is a sign of understanding, isn’t it?

A fine tale of peninsula war period

Thank you for this tale. A view into the time of the Peninsular war. I enjoyed it but having watched Sharpe series on TV I couldn't help envisaging it with those countryside scenes, battles, injured and Lord Wellington. Actually it some ways this helped to put the story in perspective (I hadn't read the prequel but I don't believe that mattered)

Feist women and War

I have just read the two novels in this series—Lady Lou theHighwayman and Saving Captain Drummond. They held me spellbound from start to finish. Audrey Harrison’s Regency heroes and heroines are always true to life and their exploits left me breathless. I particularly loved the feisty women and the scrapes they got into trying to help others. These are two marvellous novels that Iwill return to again and again.

Good story, well thought characters!

The way the story jumps right in at the beginning of the book catches the reader's attention right away! The characters are strong but quite human. I loved the first book as well. I also appreciated the summary at the end telling the reader what happened to the various characters. Well done!
It was especially nice to read a book that had some thought to it and well proofed. Thank you for that!!

War

War is hell and war in the 1800’s was truly miserable. Those injured were left to fend for themselves. When Helena learns that Cameron has been injured she is determined to go to Spain to help with his care. What happens to Heather, Helena, and Captain Phillips when they return to Portugal and find Cameron is the gist of the story.

Great action and suspense. Characters were compelling. Enjoyed the setting of the Peninsular War and the drama of living near the battle action.

Great action and suspense. Characters were interesting people & there was a compelling plot. A good summer read under the umbrella.

Emotional, must read

This book continues tell the story of Heather and Helena as a stand alone as they overcome so many situations. You get a look at the horrors, injuries, hardships of war. It also tells of very strong, stubborn ladies that find love and happiness. This story will have your emotions in turmoil.

Brilliant research. Love it

As always Ms Harrison has researched her topic well before putting one to paper. Each ladies behaviour may not be as expected but because the rest is right, it is easy to accept. I love the w?at she has been able to include several full on novels within her one. Highly recommended.

Riviting!

Thankfully Captain Drummond kept his head when he was shot and fell off his horse. He was able to get help before he passed out. His batman did all he could for him and then his family and Helena were there for him. Heather and her future husband have all kinds of issues. The ending was quite good considering the trials of war. Great writing 👍😊

After reading the first book, I had to read the last one as well. I had to find out what was going to become of Helena and the gorgeous Captain. Although they are both stand-alone stories it is best to read them both if your interested in what happens to all the siblings. I enjoyed them both.

With Audrey Harrison you always know you're going to get an interesting
story with characters you cheer on from the side. Saving Captain Drummond is no exception, a good conclusion following on from Lady Lou The Highwayman.

Audrey Harrison is a wonderful writer. There is so much emotion in her stories and characters. I have d been moved by everyone of her books that I have read. All of her characters have strong personalities.
