The Sea Nymphs #1

Tom vs. the Volcano God

Rate this book
When I got home from work, there was a letter from my brother, Robby. Robert K. Jensen, international man of mystery. The letter was just as mysterious. It came with warnings and non-disclosures and descriptions of dire consequences if I didn’t follow his directions to the letter. Accompanying the letter was a large shipping crate. And inside the crate was a portal to Wonderland.
I had no idea that afternoon that my life was about to change so radically. It had changed completely less than a year earlier when it seemed like everything that I had loved was taken away form me. But in this box was something that was a whole new life. Inside the box was Sarah: a non-organic artificially intelligent companion, designed and built by Robby. I didn’t know what it all meant, but Sarah knew exactly what to do.
That was Wednesday afternoon. By Thursday, my whole life was different. It was as perfect as Sarah herself. And as she led me down the rabbit hole, I saw and did things that I could have never imagined. Sarah wasn’t the only surprise. No, Sarah was my adventure guide. A decidedly sexy robotic adventure guide, to be sure, and she wasn’t the only beauty on this adventure. There were days I laughed so hard that I nearly passed out; and other days that I loved so much that I actually did.
Robby is a man of mystery, but he sure knows how to give a nice gift when we wants to make your life something you can’t imagine. Apparently, I’m supposed to rescue these damsels in distress from a volcano god, or something like that.

Absolutely terrible!!!!!

Wow!!! Just wow!!!
In my 40 something years on this planet I have read hundreds of books. I’m an avid reader but in all that time I can say I can’t remember reading a worse book than Ton vs The Volcano God!!This book is silly, boring, unbelievable (although that’s to be expected, Foxworthy warns you up front) and just simply a complete waste of time. The worst part there really was a great story waiting to be told but missed by a mile.
So the story starts promising as our hero Tom ,recently widowed, arriving home one day finds a message from his incredibly wealthy and mysterious younger brother Robbie that tells Tom about a gift he sent him. He tells him it’s a bit of a prototype and to have fun but follow instructions. After getting the package home he is dismayed to see his brother had sent him a very realistic sex doll. After thinking it’s a rib (prank for you non wrestling fans) his brother informs him about his gift. The doll is actually a non organic A.I. that can feel and have real emotions. The doll is not a plaything but a partner/mate that has to get to know you and like you first before anything can happen sexually or otherwise. The AI needs to first like you then trust then fall in love and this is where the book could have been something really interesting. Seeing a relationship develop between the two could have been fascinating especially when we realized Tom was a widower because his wife was killed in a terrorist attack. Can Tom really love something that’s not fully human, and can he ever get over his crushing grief at his wife’s tragic death. Can Sarah ,the AI, really have full emotions or will she always just be a “robot”? Now that’s a story I want to read!!! (Hopefully someone writes that book because Forxworthy sure as heck doesn’t. )Now Foxworthy admits the story is meant to have wealthy men and beautiful but strong women adore them. Great thanks but that doesn’t explain the absolute crap heap I just read. Btw the answer to all those questions I proposed before is a resounding, and in record time, yes!!!! By the next day Tom and Sarah are in love and, at the behest of his brother, Tom and Sarah are off to Robbie’s remote jungle paradise to be married. I’m not kidding!!!
While on the plane there are four women on board who just throw themselves at Tom and by the time they land he is now engaged to all the women from the plane as well as Sarah. Oh and the women from the plane are real people not AI’s. Once on the island Robbie (who we never really find out what he does for a living or how he made his $) explains the rules about.... You know what who cares?? The rules involve not wearing clothes and the women once married are basically subservient to there jungle kings ( so much for “strong women”). The books drags at a snails pace from the time they get on the plane until about 75% of the way through. Then it looked like it could get interesting when Tom is put to sleep and wakes up on a beach. Was he drugged? Is there some hideous plot against Robbie? Are they in serious danger??? No Tom just has to pass some tests so he can marry the women from the plane. What are the tests you ask? Are they a perilous task our hero must complete? Nope they involve no danger and willing participants so who cares??? There are more books to this series but I’ll be damnded if I’ll read them.
AI and human interaction has been done before so it’s not new. Rod Serling had some brilliant Twilight Zone episodes and Westworld was a hit for a reason. This book is not that.
I like to start off with what I liked about the book.
It’s in English so I can understand it.
There you go.
I hated this book. I dreaded reading it after about 30% in but I was determined to finish it so I can write a review.
The characters are so thin and do such unbelievable things you can’t take then seriously at all. It dragged so badly that it’s an absolute chore to continue reading. I’ve read phone books that are more interesting and have more character development than this book. When Tom has to preform his “tasks” it was at that moment that I think the book was supposed to be a comedy. How else can you explain the fact that he’s set on this journey by a group of female AI pixies and elves? You see his women were kidnapped by something called the WooNo Fun and singing chants about the Ding Dong and ding ding and he has to save them.... This is so stupid I’m getting a headache just remembering it. Even the character names before we meet the elves and pixie are so dumb. Think I’m kidding. Well we have Sondra, Buttercup, Honey, Dixie, Flower and a pixie named ,you guessed it, Pixie!!
This book actually made me angry that’s why the long review. Avoid this book at all costs.
Oh I almost forgot the sex! If your interested in that part just skip 70% of the book and start there. That’s where the most juvenile 15 yr old boy sex fantasy resides. It’s so mysoginistic and silly. I can’t stress this enough. Avoid this book!

Not my cuppa

Normal human beings do not think like this, they don't talk like this and they don't act like this. I felt like i was in a Southern Baptist sex-education and happy-marriage information film.

I get underlying thought (wish) that this is an allegory. But it ain't. Life has bumps in the road. Not every partner is drop-dead gorgeous. Real people can lie, cheat and steal and still be good people.

Ms. Foxworthy, did you grow up watching cartoons based on sermons from Joel Osteen with music from Lawrence Welk? If so, watch out, because that spotless white charger bearing down on you will probably trample you to death.

Warning! Do not pass this one up!

I decided to read this story after reading the authors forward where she mentions a fondness for Edgar Rice Burroughs (a childhood favorite author and after noticing the authors last name (the same as that of a young angel whom I also admired many years), I was not disappointed, She tells as good a story as ERB and with the same lust for life as the young angel who shared her name. Great characters and surprisingly thought provoking. NOTE:Do not miss her forward. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Review

Love this storyline, humor, adventure, different species that get along, it runs together nicely, never gets off track. I only have one question. I have read several of your books. And you always have one female that is a little shy at first. Is that based on you. And if so I applaud you for being normal.

Fun

This was fun to read. A bit off the wall in places and the characters were ..... let’s just say, interesting. Not sure about Sandy though. She really seemed to lose its at the end. Have to read book two just to see how she turns out.

Another wonderful story

I truly love Marilyn's style of harem and writing. It call into ones' present mind set and being. Yes the books are quite a turn-on, but it also opens your mind to what love can truly mean in a harem setting.

Another promising tale from Marilyn that thankfully led me to read more of the expanded Jensen family saga. Excellent scenarios if sometimes a little simplistic early on where tension / intrigue with suspicious neighbours and Toms workplace scenes might have been further developed.

Always like Marilyn’s books

Good to read more about the Jensen’s, like that some of Marilyn’s series tie themselves together. Now we have one more brother to find out about. A few editing errors but finished both books quickly and wait for more.

Excellent story!

As with the other storylines, I very much enjoyed this one. While it is similar to the others, the problems and problem solving are different, so enjoy!

Great read

I liked the fact that we got a little bit more of the history of this family. I have read the other books. I like the fact that you make them feel like real people

An Enjoyable Read

The story is enjoyable, I read the whole thing in one afternoon and will read the second volume. The one fault I found is the editing was poorly done.

This is a fun, whimsical story. I really enjoyed it and will be going on to the next book in the series.

Not worthy

Too juvenile. Written from a childish and sexist point of view that equates nudity with sex. One of the few books I did not bother to finish

Three fourths.

To me this book was three fourths very good and one fourth silly. The first parts were outstanding, then it went down in a hurry.

Outstanding

Very cool concept, very intriguing story. It's kinda written strange, not that there is anything wrong with it, it's just different.
