Cool Nights, Hot Dreams

Rate this book
With a business to run, a terminally ill mother to care for, and a dead beat father causing trouble, secret dreamweaver Sean Hastings has no time for love. Unfortunately for him, love doesn't feel the same way. When Sean stumbles into a handsome stranger's dream only for things to get too steamy for comfort, his entire world is thrown out of balance at a time when he can't afford the distraction. And when said handsome stranger shows up at his shop and Sean sees that he remembers the dream just as well as Sean does? Love has plans all its own.

Ryder Cole is trying to keep his life from imploding, but when he meets his dream lover in real life, keeping their explosive chemistry under wraps might just be the end of him. Ryder knows that the dream wasn't a coincidence, but with internal strife ongoing in his pack, he's not sure how to make it work. Sean is the one for him, but Ryder is convinced their dream meeting was not a coincidence and that it has wider reaching complications.

Add in a robbery, murder, and some rumors that hit a little too close to home, and all of a sudden, it places Sean directly in harm's path. But all is not lost. With a lot of perseverance and a little patience, even Sean and Ryder's worst nightmare might still turn into their dream romance.

Cool Nights, Hot Dreams is a 49k M/M shifter novel featuring a patient alpha with pack woes, a standoffish love interest with unique psychic abilities, a nosy best friend who can't leave well enough alone, and donuts. Lots of donuts.

Cool Nights, Hot Dreams is part of the three book series Wolves of Aurora and ends in a HFN to reprise in the next book.

Athena loves wolves. Wolfshifters in particular. Especially the loving but gruff Alphas, cranky but cute love interests that happen when she's writing them. When they fall in love? That's the best thing of all.

Favorite things? Dunkin Donuts coffee, putting her wolfshifters into sexy positions, and shouting at the tv when the news upsets her.

Okay, maybe that last part isn't a favorite thing but it still happens.

I really liked this story a lot. The author definitely delivered on the promise I saw after reading the prequel. I really love the town and all the people in it... and the wolves are nice too. LOL The author did an exceptional job of building the suspense and intrigued in this book. Of course part of me wanted everything resolved by the end of this book, but it was pretty obvious that that will only come over the arch of the series. The resolution we did get was satisfying and it was great to see Sean and Ryder happy at the end. Now I can't wait till book two is released!!!

This was so good. Sean is a dreamwalker who accidentally walks into Ryder’s dream were some major sexy times happen. Ryder is the alpha of the Oak Mountain pack and is trying to earn some respect from his pack, which he recently took over. When one of the packs pups did a little b&e, he ends up selling it at the local pawnshop, which is owned by Sean. So imagine Ryder’s surprise when he walks in and finds Sean there. They come to realize that Ryder remembers every detail of the dream. With a little push from his best friend Jeramy, Sean decides to take Ryder up on a date. While these two are navigating the date and getting to know you, there is a case of murder, robbery and why Sean’s father decides to show back up. Two of Ryder’s pack members were killed and we have to figure out who is behind that. Seans shop is broken into and a lot of jewelry is taken. Sean’s mom is losing the latest battle with cancer. And Sean’s deadbeat dad decides to show back up after years of being MIA looking for a handout. And why said dad has hooked up with the former Alpha of the Skull Creek pack, Charlie. This was a very engaging story. I loved all the secondary characters and can’t to read more about them. I hope Jeramy, Sean’s psychic best friend, gets his own book as I really like him and his snarky ways. I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

3.5 stars for me. Ryder is the werewolf pack alpha, and he first meets Sean when they share a sexy dream together - dream walking is something that Sean can do, and both are surprised when they meet for the first time in real life after sharing that dream. I really liked the idea of having wolf shifters and also psychics together, I thought it was a great combo.

There is some action and drama over who is out to get Sean and members of Ryder's pack that keeps the story moving along at a good pace. There were a few times I felt like we were told what was going on, rather than showing, and I had expected for the heat factor to have been a bit more intense? like, maybe through more shared dreams?

The summary says that this "ends in a HFN to reprise in the next book" but for readers who aren't a fan of cliffhanger endings, this one does end in a good place for Ruder and Sean, it's more that the overall threat to the pack is still around.

An accidental walk through dreams brings Sean Hastings to Ryder Cole, an intensely appealing man who makes him feel things he's never felt before. Life is complicated enough without adding in the dreamwalking and a deadbeat father reappearing in his life, but when Sean meets the object of the previous night's "encounter" it seems that life is never too complicated for love. Ryder has his work cut out for him with Sean, but if he can't find answers to the problems plaguing his pack and their town they may not get a chance to find out what could be between them.

The plot here was really interesting, though I did feel it suffered a bit from fits and starts rather than a smooth progression and the relationship-building was more mild than I hoped. Finding the balance between a budding relationship and the drama that surrounds it is quite difficult, so I'm not saying I could have done any better. By the end we do get to a good sense of where things are going and that the trouble has no quick fix.

I liked the characters on a surface level. Each one had good points to keep both the story and the relationship progressing, but while the romantic aspect was slow-moving and a bit too simplistic, the drama surrounding them grew in big jumps with no gradual quickening of events. I'm definitely interesting in diving back into this rather intriguing world the author has created to find out what happens next in the town and who the MC pairing might be. I feel that it would work well to continue with Sean and Ryder being the recurring couple since we've got some unsolved issues with Sean's gift as well as some pack dynamics that need a bit of sorting on Ryder's side of things, but would be equally interested if we get a new relationship and find a broadening web that brings the community into even greater entanglement. Overall I was pleased with what I read but felt the pacing and balance could have used quite a bit of fine tuning.

This is an excellent start to a new series and I really enjoyed it. It is well-written, sweet, emotional, heartbreakingly sad, full of hope, there is danger and suspense, the storyline is intriguing and I love the characters. When the list of characters includes werewolves, a dream walker and a psychic there is no end to the twists and turns in this story. Sean and Ryder have a lot to deal with but they have a strong connection and smoking hot chemistry as well. I like how their relationship develops and how much they support each other. Sean has an amazing relationship with his mom and he is willing to do anything to help her. Ryder is a caring and compassionate alpha for his pack. Together they will have to face some difficult obstacles while they get to know each other. I love the secondary characters and I look forward to reading the next book in this exciting new series.

Cool Nights, Hot Dreams by Athena Blaezis the first book in The Wolves of Aurora Series. It is a paranormal Shifter, mm romance and ends in a "happy for now" way, continuing into the next book in the series.

The story is filled with drama, action, murders and danger, sweetness, sexiness, Psychic abilities, dream walking, and shifters. It's an entertaining and satisfying read. The characters are fun and make you want more. I love Ryder and Sean. Cant wait for more.

I received an advanced reader's copy of the book and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review and recommendation.

This a is book that you will not want to put down, it is fast paced with great characters that are fully formed. This is a story filled with drama, mystery and murders. With plenty of heat and chemistry from the MC 's I have high hopes for the books to come. It ends on a FUN and an unresolved issue which I feel will run throughout the series.
I enjoyed reading this, there is an accompanying novella involving a couple of the secondary characters which I am going to read next, this is well worth reading if you like supernatural stories

Okay, I liked this story but felt the mystery was quite obvious. I don’t know though, I didn’t feel the story and it was left open and unsolved for the next book.

I felt for Sean and how hard it life has been, it’s been him and his mom against the world for so long. There wasn’t really anything about Ryder’s past so other than knowing he had been the alpha of the pack for a few years we didn’t get to learn much about him.

I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.
