This paperback edition includes two sheets of spooky stickers!
In this over-the-top early reader, Mavis turns her friend Wendy the Blob into a giant blob. And why exactly?
WHAT'S THE MAIN REASON?
Thank the Disney channel. Specifically, this "book" comes from an episode of the hit Disney Channel show, "Hotel, The Series."
There doesn't have to be any reason that makes sense. This is ENTERTAINMENT!!! Very likely the intended audience is kids who don't want to read, unless they absolutely have to.
How else can you tell this product between covers is designed for kids who prefer to watch TV, rather than read? The book comes with -- Get this! -- Two sheets of spooky stickers!
GOOD LUCK WITH TURNING KIDS INTO READERS... THROUGH THIS SAD EXCUSE FOR A BOOK
You can tell this story was made for TV, then translated into the book. Just check out this typical sample of dialog, Goodreaders:
"I wish he would see it that way," Wendy replied.
"Stop wishing and start doing!" Mavis said.
DO ACTUAL CHILDREN TALK THIS WAY?
Only on shows like the Disney series. Nothing needs to make sense. Just make sure the dialog is snappy.
How to rate this trash between covers? THREE STARS is my compromise between my personal inclination of ZERO STARS and the FIVE STARS which would likely be given by members of the intended readership.
With so many excellent books written by real authors who care about real children, I am furious that my public library has chosen to purchase and circulate this so-called "book."
