A very good textbook to be used by a Young Adult reader to get a wider picture of this very confronting topic. It covers the key issues well.

The author of this book is Cath Senker. The name f the book is "Surviving the Holocaust". The book is non-fiction. The genre of the book is history, auto-biography and biography. This book describes about the past so it is really easy for us to get information about the holocaust. This book is written a humorous easy to read tone because it doesn't have a lot of hard words and it has a lot of pictures and it isn't written in long paragraphs. This book was first published in Great Britian by Green tree, Halley Court, Jordan Hill, and Oxford. This book has 48 pages. This book delivers the information of the holocaust and how the Jews lived. I chose this book because my brother was learning about the holocaust so I was interested and in library class I saw this book so I started to read it.

The book describes about how the Jews were being killed, how the Nazis started to attack other countries, what kind of camps there were, and more. The book gives information in paragraphs, in boxes, or in pictures. I learned about the different type of camps that the Nazis used, I learned about those people that tried to save the Jews, and the experiment that Dr. Josef Mengele tested that is the twin experiment. The book could be used for helping homework, reviewing a test about the holocaust, or even writing a essay. The author did show us information in an easy way because he didn't need to write a long paragraph but instead he just needed to add pictures and write short sentences in a box. There were nothing to agree nor disagree in the author's conclusion. However, I disagree on the Jews feelings. They felt guilty because they survived the holocaust. Some people even commit suicide because they felt too guilty. I think they are alive because they are the ones to continue their religion and their lives.

I hated to read this book because it talked about how Nazis killed the Jews and the author wrote how they got killed. He even added pictures so I had a clear image in my mind which freaked me out a lot. However, I liked how they wrote he wrote about the history so I can learn more about the holocaust. I didn't have a favorite part since it was a sad story. Usually I don't have favorite parts in sad stories because they were made to be sad and favorite is the opposite of sad. The part where I hated was when the author describes what the Russian partisans has found after the end of the World War II. They found corpses and really thin people. People who are interested in World War I and II might be interested because this book has a lot of information about the World War. I wouldn't recommend this book to a friend because either they already know a lot about the World War or they are just not interested. I recommend this book to 5th or Middle school students because this book might be too easy for high school and maybe too hard for 4th grade and below. I'll give this book a 7 because it was good but it had some really horrifying information.
