Everyone loves a hot, broody jock, right? The kind who’s stare sets your body on fire and all common sense flies out the window?
Well, not this girl.
Sure, Keith Montgomery has the looks, but in his case, beauty is only skin deep. He’s egotistical, obnoxious and the most shallow person I’ve ever met.
And I’m his new roommate.
Turns out we were both desperate.
But that’s where our commonalities end. He’s indecisive where I’m sensible, chaotic where I’m organized. So why do I ache for those minutes alone with him?
I’m not the type of girl who likes to get burned, but suddenly the idea of playing with Fire is getting harder to resist.
Desiree Adele strikes sports romance gold in her second novel, Sweet Fatality. A romance that explodes with heat, humor, and heart. With lovable characters, a fun and feel-worthy storyline, and superb writing, this story will keep you turning the pages faster than a puck flies into the net.
Whoa! What an absolute heartfelt, adorable, sexy love story. This one is about Keith and Lexi who we met in Sweet Insanity. Keith just gotten kick off the hockey team for the rest of the season after being caught with drugs. Keith’s parents had high expectations for him to take over the family business one day, but at this point they are furious and decided to cut off all financial support. For the first time, Keith needs a find a real job but there isn’t much. He found himself working as a barista blending drinks at a local gym 😊 LOL how far the prince has fallen. Lexi is also at a cross road. She too is looking for work and a new place to live. Lexi’s best friend Dahlia happened to date Zack, Keith’s current roommate … and voila! Welcome new roomies Keith and Lexi! Keith and Lexi could not be more opposite. Keith is heart-stopping gorgeous, delicious, arrogant man-whore with a filthy mouth. He has a type and it isn’t involved his new roomie Lexi or so he thinks … Lexi is shy, wide-eye, bright smile, beautiful, down to earth, someone you would want to be your bestie kind of girl. Lexi also has her standards in man and the cocky mouthwatering sexy ex-hockey player isn’t one of them… or is it??? I really enjoy the fun and flirting relationship between Lexi and Keith. Keith loves to tease and make sexual innuendo comment which makes Lexi turned red tomato … she really is adorable. I love the hilarious banters between them. I like that they developed a sweet friendship first then of course turned into a hot and heavy romance later (fanning 😊). There is not too much drama going on (except one) which is quite refreshing. Keith does have some personal issue he needs to work on and Lexi was perfect for him … patience and kind. Sweet Fatality was an awesome read – fun, passionate, heartwarming, romantic sport/friend-to-lover romance. Second book of the Sweet Series – second novel period, but very well-written. Can’t wait for more to come from this author.
What an absolute fabulous sweet & sexy read this little beauty proved to be. I just knew I would love Keith & Lexi, but wow did Desiree take their entire journey to new heights.
I loved how natural & easy their relationship was written. It was so easy to connect to them, finding everything so utterly genuine & lovable between them. As their friendship grew, so did the the feels that Des poured between the pages & I loved the fact I couldn’t help all the snickering & swooning that tumbled out of me with such little control lol.
The banter between this pair was on point, ensuring their personalities shone brightly both individually as well as together. Desiree for me excelled at making them real, relatable & moreish on every turn of the page.
The story itself was a revelation as far as Kieth was concerned, letting me see just how complex of a man he actually is. The guy beyond the joker, beyond the lady killer is passionate, loveable, caring & thankfully still a good bit cocky, a true loveable rouge who is a master stealer of hearts. Loved him hard.
I can’t recommend this enough. I still can’t believe it’s only Desiree's 2nd Book, because the writing truly is that of a seasoned pro.
This second book by Desiree Adele, although not having the same impact as her debut novel, none the less still provides us with an entertaining read. I really liked that Desiree concentrated this story on the actual relationship between Lexi and Keith and that no real outside commotion wreaked havoc with the characters. Not as emotionally charged as Sweet Insanity, Keith and Lexi's story still touches on the emotive ramifications from childhood issues. Although I would have liked the author to go a bit deeper and harder into each character's background, it is a story that reads well and those who love YA/NA will devour this one with glee. Desiree Adele has a natural writing ability that allows the reader to eagerly engage with her characters and therefore allows us to get the most out of the reading experience. Definitely one to have on your bookshelf.
Oh how I loved this book! This is such a fun and sexy read that draws you right in from the very beginning.
I loved the banter between Lexi and Keith. At times it honestly had me laughing at loud, and I love when a book makes me do that! I also loved the sexual tension between these two! The slow build of their relationship had me going JUST KISS HER ALREADY! But the wait was oh so worth it. Ugh they’re literally perfection together. So damn perfect!
Side note- I just have to say that the part where all the guys were in the yoga class, oh my gosh it had me cracking up!! I was DYING. I couldn’t stop laughing. The more I pictured it, the harder I laughed. Desiree describes it so perfectly between the man-shrieks and the hilarious description of the hockey players trying to do downward facing dog, I could totally picture the hilarity of the situation. I’m telling you right now, you’ll be in a total laughing fit!!
But yes!! Go read this book! It’s a great college romance love story that gives you all the good feels!
Yes yes yes this was everything and more i absolutely loved it NA is one of my favourite genre but for me this one kicked it out of the park.
Being that we met these two characters in a previous book i was so excited to get it, Keith was your typical playboy who never took life too seriously except his hockey, but when one night ruins pretty much what he has been working towards for his future he is one lost and broken guy. I loved Keith he was funny sexy flirty and i really learned to love him and get his serious side in this book.
Lexi was so cute and i really loved her individuality and how she didn’t want to be like everyone else and abide by everyone rules, she was a firecracker and i loved that so when she gets kicked out of her sorority house things start to get a little harder for her but she never thought she would find a friend in Keith.
These two characters had absolutely some of the best chemistry and the angst of trying to have feeling for each other had me turning the pages so fast and i loved thier banter it had me laughing a lot. This story also got the feels with the emotion of not being good enough and i really felt for both characters.
Loved loved loved this book, exceeded every single expectation that i had, it made me laugh, made me cry but not too much and i loved the storyline.
Sweet Fatality is Ms. Adele's second book and let me just say that it does NOT disappoint in ANY way. No sophomore jinks here, for SURE...if anything, the writing, the character development, the story-telling, just get BETTER, if that's even possible!
Keith Montgomery, who we meet in the first book Sweet Insanity, is Zach's best friend and roommate. He comes off as a man-whore, a one-night-stand-is-all-you-get type and as he is a gorgeous, sexy-as-all-get-out hockey STUD who has his pick of willing "puck-bunnies", he has no intention of settling down with just one! Besides, why SHOULD he when he has the smorgasbord of women at his disposal?! Then along comes Lexi Scholl, Zach's girlfriend Dahlia's best friend, moving in with Zach and Keith to help them all out...Lexi needed a place to live and the boys needed help to pay the rent on their condo! That's when life gets VERY interesting...and complicated...and STEAMY!!!
Keith is sooooo much more than what he appears to be and Lexi is his PERFECT foil! I loved how this frienemies-to-lovers, so FULL of angst and heartbreak, wove it's spell on my heart! It just spoke to me on a soul-deep level! The way this story unfolds, the banter and the swoony feels, the laugh-out-loud antics and the things that enrage me, makes this one I won't ever forget! Desireé Adele is a power house-in-the-making in this Indie community...one that you really NEED to watch out for!
5 INSANELY SWEET & SEXY Stars for Sweet Fatality!!!
WOW!!! I loved...LOVED Sweet Fatality, and Keith!! We met Keith in Desiree's first book, because he's Zack's best friend/teammate/roommate. Keith and Lexi are "thrown" together because Lexi needs a place to live, and she contacts Dahlia, her best friend/Zack's girlfriend. She moves in with Zack and Keith, and she starts seeing Keith differently than all the rumors, and she likes what she sees...Keith really likes Lexi too, especially making her blush, which he tries to do on a daily basis, there is also some sexual chemistry goin' on all over there, but Lexi has been hurt, and she wants more than Keith is willing to give...or is he? I loved the banter, I loved all the characters...well, except for especially one character, but as the saying goes...Karma, she be a bitch, and Desiree did an awesome job with that too!! I am TOTALLY recommending this book, and this author!! GET THIS BOOK, and get her first book too...thank you Desiree for allowing me to be a small part of watching you succeed, and I can't wait to see what you come up with next...love you lady, and your amazing words!!
Keith is a hotshot on the ice and with the ladies. Suddenly, he’s a fallen hockey star, kicked off the team after an indiscretion lands him in hospital. Lexi has just been kicked out of her sorority for not being able to play nice with her bitchy sorority sisters. Keith is desperate for a roommate and Lexi is desperate for somewhere to live, so they become roommates. In many ways they’re completely incompatible and may never be friends. She delivers him a verbal tongue lashing which solidifies his attraction to her. Feelings develop, but they spend their time skirting around their attraction to each other because they’re not each other’s usual type. He’s a total player and she’s worried that if anything happens between them that she’ll be handing her heart over to him which he will discard. She just might be the first person ever to break his cycle of hookups and drinking...
I loved this book! I adored Keith in the first book and was so happy when I heard this one was his! I enjoyed this whole story! It had everything I am looking for in a great story: hilarious banter, great characters, heartbreak, and of course heartwarming moments too! Keith and Lexi were the perfect pairing! Perfectly steamy too!
We 1st meet Keith in Book 1 as Zach's friend and roommate, and he just called out to me then. I couldn't wait for his story, he 1st comes a cross as abit of a lad's lad / Manwhore but we see his character develop and meet his softer side, which just made me love him more! Keith has his issues to overcome as does Lexi the Heroine but are they both willing to work through them together? I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is the 2nd from this author and I felt the story flowed well and you could see the improvement in the writing from the 1st book as her style and confidence grow and develop.
I was given an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review
Lexi gets kicked out of her dorm for standing up for her friend. Keith is kicked out of the hockey team and now has to start paying his own rent after his father stops supporting him financially. Thus, they are both in need of a roommate.
Keith and Lexi's relationship eventually turns into something more. Overall I did enjoy the book, however I was wanting to like it a lot more than I did. I don't read as much college sports romances as I used to.
I thought Desiree's writing was great but some of the plot points (especially towards the end) were on the predictable side.
I really liked that the series continued and I liked getting to see Zach and Dahlia again.
Very cute, fluffy romance. Three-stars as I feel it took all romance tropes and merged it into one book. Loved the dance scene to butterfly, thought it was adorable and every time that song comes on I think of Keith.
Sweet Fatality starts right off with a bang with the main character, Keith Montgomery, getting kicked off the hockey team after too much partying landed him in the hospital. And since misery loves company he now has to find a job after his parents pull the plug on paying for his place to live. Even after the paycheck and his roommate paying his half, money is still tight so the next best option is finding a second roommate to help pay rent. Luckily they don't have to look far since Lexi Scholl is in desperate need of a place to stay. Knowing all about Keith's playboy ways since her best friend is his roommate's girlfriend, Lexi is hesitant to take up the opportunity but with no other options ends up moving in. What starts off as two people avoiding each other at all costs turns into a friendship growing stronger every day. But with one with a hurt past and the other never having been around the block many times, do they actually move forward or keep pretending to they don't want more?
This was such a fun story to read, especially the constant battling between Keith and Lexi. They don't start off on the right foot since Keith didn't really want a new roommate and now with it being a girl he thinks that will cramp his ways. Lexi is the opposite with trying to stay invisible and not wanting to make anyone mad by being there in the first place. A weekend with just the two of them get them talking and with the other roommate, Zach, almost never around they continue learning about each other, all the while ignoring the pull to take things further. I love how these two became such good friends before anything else and even though subtle changes were made, mainly by Keith not wanting other women anymore, both characters stayed their true selves and both personalities were very refreshing. The only small thing I have against Sweet Fatality is there isn't any background information on either Keith or Lexi. Even though this is considered a standalone it's clear something happened in the previous book that was tied over to this one. I do plan to backtrack and read book one but it would have been nice to know a little bit more information on what got everything started. Besides that Desireé Adele had me so invested in the story with just the right amount of drama and funny moments, and would love to read more if something else is written about these characters.
Sweet Fatality (Sweet Series #2) by Desiree Adele is a contemporary, friends to lovers, new adult romance told in first person, dual POV. It is book two in a series but can be read as a standalone. The story follows Keith and Lexi who were secondary characters in book one, Sweet Insanity.
After being caught with drugs, Keith gets kicked off of the hockey team and his furious parents cut him off financially. He gets a job at his gym's smoothie bar, but the money won't be enough to cover his half of the rent. When Lexi gets kicked out of her sorority she needs to find a new place to live. Her best friend Dahlia - who dates Kieth's roommate, Zack - suggests that she moves in with them. Lexi doesn't really think it's the best idea, but she's out of options. Although Keith and Lexi are complete opposites, a sweet friendship develops between them as they get to know each other and they have difficulty ignoring their growing chemistry.
I enjoyed Lexi and Keith's love story. In fact, I liked this book a little bit more than the first one, but that may be because friends to lovers is my favorite trope. (I won an ARC of this book and at that time purchased the previous one on Amazon for $0.99 because - why not?) Anyway, I rated this book a little lower than the first even though I enjoyed it more. Here's why... There were several word use errors throughout the book. While I would expect it to undergo another round of proofing and editing before release, without seeing the final product, I can't be certain of it. Apart from that, I really enjoyed Keith and Lexi as characters. Their banter was witty and fun to read. The story was flirty, sweet, and very entertaining.
After a drug involved incident at the end of Sweet Insanity landed Keith in the hospital, I knew I needed his story like ASAP. Sweet Fatality picks up right after the incident. Forced to face the consequences of his action, Keith is kicked off the hockey team, cut off from his father financially and in desperate need of a roommate and a job. His easy, stress free life was gone.
Lexi, who we also met in Sweet Insanity, needs a place to stay after she's kicked out of the her sorority. When her best friend suggest rooming with Keith she has doubts. She's had a crush on Keith but knows that he's a major player. When she moves in she's determined not to fall for his moves.
I adored Keith and Lexi together. My heart just about melted every time they worked together refinishing the furniture. I enjoyed the back and forth banter. I will admit it took a while for me to warm up to Keith. However, he when he won me over he REALLY won me. I mean who doesn't love when a player falls.
Sweet Fatality is new adult goodness. Desiree did a great job balancing the heat with the heart. She added the right amount of lightness and humor to counteract the characters insecurities and drama.
I couldn't rate it higher because I was left wanting something more. The story was a little too predictable and the ending was a little rushed. That being said it's definitely still worth a pick up. This books gave me some serious The Score by Elle Kennedy vibes - which I'm always down for.
This is the second book in the Sweet series (can be read as a stand alone). This book follows Keith the roommate and friend of the hero in the first novel (Zach) and Lexi who is the heroine from the first book (Dahlia) best friend. Keith is a hot, bad boy, hockey player and our heroine is Lexi is a free spirit and down to earth. These two surprisingly becomes friends and form a connection that surprises them both.
I truly enjoyed this novel, I loved the character growth these two had. They really grew together in their relationship and personal lives. I am obsessed with Keith he is hot, protective but also very caring and sweet. I personally related to Lexi a lot as she's short yet feisty and strong. Keith and Lexi found each other in the perfect moment in their lives and they fit together perfectly.
I will be honest to say that this is not like the first novel but this is a very special story. Keith and Lexi will always hold a special place in my heart. I also want to mention that if you loved the first book as much as I did Dahlia and Zach are in these novel as well! If you love new adult and sports novels as much as I do then you will absolutely enjoy this novel. Another amazing book from Desiree who is a phenomenal writer.
Thank you so much to WordSmith Publicity for providing me with an arc for a honest review! I give this 4/5 stars
Sweet Fatality is a funny, flirty and very sexy story. It grabbed hold of my attention from the very first page and just didn't let go.
Keith is a player on and off the ice but when an incident with drugs get him thrown off the team and his father gives him an ultimatum he feels his life is on a downward spiral. That is until he meets his new roommate. Lexi needs somewhere to live after been thrown out of her sorority. When her best friend sorts her a room in a shared house she's not jumping for joy when she discovers she will have to share a house with the biggest player on campus. She determined not to fall for his charms but as Lexi and Keith get to know each other they discover they could just be each other's soul mate, if only life would give them a break.
A great sports themed romance from Desiree Adele and I can't wait to read more in the future.
Lexi & Keith’s story! Characters from book 1(Sweet Insanity) Their story was an unlikely union brought together by their need for a roommate. When two different characters find out they have more in common than they both realize. The attraction turns into friendship and then the lines get blurred quickly. This was a fun series to read and I definitely recommend it!
I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to have this book on my kindle. After the end of Sweet Insanity ( the previous book in the series) I could not wait to get Keith’s story. That book ended with Keith being in a bad way after his reckless actions landed him in the hospital.
The consequence of said actions, means him getting kicked off the hockey, which in turn has his dad cutting him off financially. In need of a roommate to help with the rent, brings along our heroine - Lexi.
Lexi is in need of a place to live after being booted from her sorority after defending a friend. She’ll do anything to avoid to living with her overbearing parents. And that includes sharing space with the biggest player on campus. One she has an undeniable attraction to, despite her knowing nothing but sweet fatality is in store for her messing with a womanizer like Keith.
Things get off to a rocky start with Keith and Lexi, which led to numerous laugh-out-loud moments. Try as they may to ignore their growing pull towards each other, it becomes impossible. I loved their banter; the dialogue was always on point. The build up of their relationship from friendship to more was done so beautifully. It was genuine and had me hooked. This novel was entertaining, funny and sexy as can be.
I very much enjoyed getting to read Keith and Lexi’s story, and that epilogue was just as sweet as a delicious chocolate croissant.
**I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own**
