I follow Leanne Shapton and found this very interesting book that is a summary of an interview with three artist (Shapton a.o.) about the way they started their carreers, richly illustrated with their earliest work. Insightful and inspiring. It also makes clear that in the art/design/editorial world it's all about your connections, besides the hard work. This edition is from 2004. I do not know how much the 'zine world' and opportunities Shapton and friends had have changed after covid. I would love to attend an interview with (loads of illustrations of the work of) these three artists today.

My favorite thing about this book? The peek into the notebook Leanne Shapton keeps of drawings of fake covers for her favorite books.
