Beauty standard for women has never been so high. In this world of social media, you would have to be camera perfect all the time or you don't deserve to be happy. But there is a saying 'beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.' Dalia was just an average girl on the chubby side. No one cared if she existed, she was just a sidekick of her perfect best friend Samira. She thought no one would ever notice her until he did. What would happen when a Pastry chef and Youtube megastar, Tarun Gupta notices her? Especially when she had a sweet tooth and he had a tendency of feeding her with delicacies. Would she be able to shut down her insecure self? Would he be able to shut down the people who judge him for dating 'the ugly one'?
Renuja Haque is an avid reader of fantasy and YA fiction. She loves writing as much as she loves reading. From a very young age, she had an imaginative mind which later turned into the passion for writing. For fun, she has written Adult and Fantasy Romance Fiction on social media platform like Wattpad. She has also published poems on an anthology ‘Mirage of hearts’. She quit her job in an MNC and took up part-time jobs while continuing her passion for writing. She also writes under the Pen name- R H Rose.
Short novellas are not my cup of tea and unfortunately "Falling For The Ugly One" falls under this category. Our protagonist Dalia was a corpulent girl who never had a boyfriend, believed that no one will ever find her attractive until Tarun, her celebrity crush and a famous chef who goes by the name Fooddude on YouTube falls in love with her.
When Tarun made an announcement of their relationship publicly on his YouTube channel, his followers went on criticizing Dalia for her appearance and said to her that she was no match for a boy like Tarun. But Tarun who loved her with all his heart for what she was, made his followers very clear that they have no say in his personal life by proposing her marriage in a live session on his Youtube channel.
Thus the book came to an end with the message that beauty has nothing to do with the outer appearance, also just because we follow a celebrity on social media and had a glimpse of their lifestyle doesn't mean that we have the right to interfere into their life's decisions.
I liked the flow, pace and narration. But the book lacks proper scene descriptions and character development which I felt like a drawback of this short novella. The message the author delivered through this book is appreciable. But I would rather recommend the author's first book "Lotus In His Eyes" than this one.
The portrayal of internet hatred and the effect it had on the person targeted is done very well.It also delivers a strong message that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and inner beauty is the true beauty. The character development is pretty good for this short novel. Pace was very fast. I wish there was more of it. I definitely wouldn't have minded a additional hundred or more pages. In some places I wanted more details. But it's not an issue. All In all just Loved it!.
It's a sweet read. These days people are falling for the outside beauty and they don't even bother for inside beauty. This is a story about seeing inside beauty other than outside beauty. It's a good read. Language is easy to read. Characters described very well.
ARC provided by author. This books was a sweet treat. Can I have a Tarun for myself? hehe.
his book talks about how today's woman suffer from body image and how it affects our relationships. How internet hatred can ruin people's life. Although it's a cute romance novella but it gives a very important message to it's readers. Liked it very much, would definately recommend it.
Typical story of a rich hot guy falling for an average girl.
The way people behave when their idol does something that does not please them is so selfish! Following a celebrity is ok but why do we have to poke our noses into their personnel life?!. And I also felt that the title was way too idk hurtful?

We have a notion of beauty- slim body, clean face, perfect hair, manicured hands. All those who don't fit in these standards are not considered beautiful. This has been our society for so long. But who set these standards? Why do we have to play by their rules? I have scars yet I am beautiful. I don't have a slim figure yet I am worthy. I am me. And that is the only thing that matters. . Blurb- This book talks about a girl Dalia who was an average girl on the chubby side with insecurities plaguing her life. No one cared if she existed, she was just a sidekick of her perfect best friend. In the world of social media, beauty standards for women have never been higher. You always have to be a camera perfect or you don't deserve to be happy. But there is a saying 'beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.' Your heart decides who you love, not your eyes. She thought no one would ever notice her until he did. What would happen when a Pastry chef and Youtube megastar, Tarun Gupta notices her? Especially when she had a sweet tooth and he had a tendency of feeding her with delicacies. Would she be able to shut down her insecure self? Would he be able to shut down the people who judge him for dating 'the ugly one'? . I really liked this book. It gives such an important social message with such an intriguing and interesting story. The narration is smooth and language easy to understand. The book keeps the reader hooked throughout. I really loved the idea author has put behind writing this one. I can totally relate to this story and know many people would too. So I would really like to recommend it to all.
It doesn’t matter of the world though you are ugly. What mattered was to find the right person who loves you for who you are. He would love your bad as much as he would love your good
This is a realistic story of a teenage girl called Dalia who struggles with her body image as she is on the fatter side and thinks herself as ugly.
This is a story of Tarun who is a handsome YouTube chef who is appreciated as much for his looks as his cooking.
When Dalia’s best friend, the ultra perfect Samira gets forcefully drags Dalia to her rich boyfriend Harsh’s charity party she meets Tarun who is also Harsh’s big brother.
This is a sweet romance, filled with insecurity and social presence pressures. This is a story of a couple trying to overcome these hurdles.
Will Tarun fall for the ugly one? And will the media accept this? Or will there be a backlash?
Everyone says that inner beauty is more important than outer beauty, but in the society will live in, it isn't. No one gives you the chance to show that you are beautiful on the inside if you aren't on the outside.
What is beauty? Why is this world obsessed with beauty? It is a pathetic way of measuring your worth in the eyes of another.
Loved the way author tries to portray a story in the book that gives us a strong impactful message. The quality of beauty lies on how beholder values an object.
The character Dalia who considers herself average and discontented with her body image. But then comes an unexpected twist in the story. A plot twist which makes you mesmerized. Because somebody rightly said " The right one will make you fall in love with yourself too ".
I feel like this story needs to be reached out to everybody in the society.
Language is reader friendly. With regular twists and turns, the whole story becomes lively. Its fast paced narration makes it a good read.
The book is based on love, jealousy and struggle and and it contains 98 pages.
The book is started with the name daila. She is a normal girl not too much beautiful and in this imaginary world u have only good camera phone to take a perfect picture .
In this world no one have the right to judge your character how are you or how you wanna be.
The storyline is written very well . The characters are built up nicely .
The language used by the author is quite lucid.
Review - 1) The cover and the title of the book is nice but can be somewhat better and attractive.
2) The book is very well thought and framed.
3) The plot of the book is good.
4) The characters were well formed.
5) The language used by the author is simple and easily understandable.
Read the story of two people in totally opposite ways who help each other see that beauty is not skin deep but soul deep. This was a pretty good read and my first time reading this author, so I was very excited to read this book for that reason. And I enjoyed the book overall, but there were just a few things that prevented me from liking it more than I did. I think the story was cute, but it just needed a little more something to make it better.
The story flows well, is mildly interesting but I think there was a lack of development with the characters and the plot. I honestly think if the story and characters were more fleshed out and transition between characters was more clear I would like it a lot more. I recommend this to anyone looking for a light/fun read that isn't too deep.
This is often a misjudgement that love happens due to physical beauty. What really happens is the two people fall for the person as they are, their mental and emotional being. Everyone wants the right person. But this right person might not be the best looking in the world, they'll surely be the best from heart. The plot revolves around two people,a girl who considers herself ugly from the society's point of view and a youtube chef who is pretty handsome. This is one such story which should be seen as something what each of your heart desires, because falling for s pretty person could just be lust, while falling for a person who is mentally amazing is love. On a side note! No one is ugly. Every person is beautiful. You just need to accept yourself ☺️

It was good till almost end. But last few chapters carried a lot of typography errors which spoiled the reading flaw.. yes, every book has some mistakes somewhere hidden from creator's eyes, just meant for reader's to find. Still felt like last chapters were not properly edited..
Coming to the story, it's really an inspirational story. It discussed something women face nowadays. Being social has become a burden to people who are not presentable in other's view. Author talked that subject well. Good attempt.
I am an ardent fan of renuja.. I read most of her writings she is truly talented and sense of imagination no words to describe. Other than lotus in her eyes this one is my favorite. We can see so many Dalia's around us and I find one in me also. I loved the story .. superb keep writing..
Some time being you can be amusing in others perception but that doesn't means you are imperfect. Everyone is imperfectly perfect in their imperfections. This book witnesses ," beauty isn't about having pretty face, its about having a pretty heart and soul" through the character Dalia and Tarun.
