The sleepy coastal towns along the southern Oregon coast are awakened when a young woman is found slain in her home, followed by the murder of an elderly couple in the same town. If the deaths are related, what is their sinister connection? In this second book of the O’Toole and Starker murder mystery series the reader will follow the detectives as they seek out clues and unravel stories from several suspects, and in the process enlist the help of law enforcement agencies in three states.
The personal lives of the detectives reflect real-life problems, and their individual quirks lend both tension and humor to the relationships. This book is a must-read for anyone who enjoys murder mysteries and accurate police procedures. Detectives O’Toole and Starker are again a great team, using their intellect and experience to ferret out the guilty among many possible suspects.
Bruce Cockerham is the author’s technical consultant for the law-enforcement theme. He is a thirty-year law enforcement veteran who trained with the FBI as a counter sniper and is a graduate of both the California Command College and the FBI National Academy.
G. A. Cockerham lives on the southern Oregon coast with husband Bruce. She is a retired financial advisor and insurance broker. The first three books of the O'Toole/Starker Oregon coast murder mystery series were featured in the fall, 2019 issue of Southern Oregon Magazine. The fourth book in the series, Murder Takes All, was published in 2020. Murder at Macklyn Cove, number five in the series, was published in October of 2021!
It was fun reading a story about a different part of the country (Oregon)- different expressions. This was not a very long book with overly detailed explanations, and not terribly gruesome scenes. But still enjoyable & had me guessing till the end. The author is new at writing & uses insight from her husband's ex-law enforcement career. I look forward to seeing how her writing progresses.
